Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Tanking teams should lose lottery balls, not draft picks my bad. I stand by my statement that tanking is some *****ness at its finest imo. Forfeit and cut da ********

But them that opens up a messy drawer of what constitutes as "tanking", because we know how people have say it's subjective. It's like saying someone is faking an automotive injury. How do you know if someone is in pain or not?
When you film them running a 5k in Barbados you know they're faking.

I remember when Tim Duncan was the hottest prospect coming out of wake forest....The Celtics were purposely tanking to get him....and who did the Celtics end up with? Chauncey Billups...he had an alright career, but he wasn't exactly a franchise type player

Tanking is for losers

Go root for the sixers

I love when Knick fans say this...

News flash, we are losers!!

We've had TWO winning records in FIFTEEN seasons.

During those fifteen years, we have been the epitome of a losing franchise and bad decision-makers in that time. From Jerome James to Amar'e's contract to the Melo trade, we've made bad decision after bad decision.

So please, say what you want about tanking...but don't try to act like we're a winning franchise. Cause we're not. And don't act like the fans accept losing.

Cause more than any other franchise, we do. Y'all literally think we are going to win 50 games cause we got Derrick Rose who hasn't been good or healthy in five years. Knick fans will pay 100 dollars for a skybox seat to see a 22-60 team. Y'all get hype about anything.

The one time we built something the right way under Walsh, good things happened. Free agents wanted to come here. Bron considered us, CP3 wanted to come here, Melo came. It didn't work but it was worth a shot.

"If you build it, it will come." In a market like NY or LA that is always true. If we has two young studs like KP and Fultz, every other free agent superstar would want to come here in a second if you already have the structure in place. Build the structure first.

And taking to get a better shot at a guy who ended up being a top 10 player of all-time was worth it.

The cavs tanked for LeBron, you think they regret that?

i feel like tanking is only an option if youre in a small market and you cant get FAs to sign. realistically, teams like the jazz, magic, bucks, etc. arent exactly dream locations. seatle got lucky with KD, russ, and har_en. the bucks MIGHT have something going with parker and the greek, but teams like that arent signing the brons or stephs or PGs of the league.

And Detroit picked Darko , Denver with Melo

Big whoop

Why are we entertaining the idea when the preseason hasnt even started?

The Lakers just spent two years tanking.

Wait until Ingram/D'angelo are off age and all-stars...everyone FA is going to be clamoring to join them in LA.

the cavs "tanking" is a reach. they just sucked.

Their ex-coach John Lucas III said they explicitly tanked so try again.

Tanking and having KP take 25 shots a game>>>>>>>building a team who's absolute, everything breaks right ceiling is a one-year, 5th seed second round exit.

The Lakers were fortunate enough to land those guys in very deep draft classes. The Lakers were fortunate to get the #2 pick twice actually. They could've very well ended up with Aaron Gordon and Jaylen Brown.

The Lakers got lucky. Who's to say Deangleo Russel and Ingram will be those type of players? Only time will tell.

You need to realize, a lot of things need to go your way when you build that way. It's not as easy as you may think it is.

nobody said we were going to win 50 games though... if anything 40 plus is realistic if healthy... and stop acting like donnie was the best gm... he cleaned up isiah mess and gave us some cap room but it was pointless since we didnt land lebron... it was donnie choice to over pay amare and he also drafted jordan hill, toney douglas... he gave up a lot to get melo but it was the right move as far as players are concerned.. the draft picks included were OD but to be honest wilson chandler, mosgov and gallo was not the future... and i doubt we would have made the playoffs with that roster playing with amare... i agree we should rebuild but now is not the time especially since melo is our only asset and has a no trade clause so we have no choice but to try to win.... once his contract is done than rebuiliding is an option but tanking isnt guaranteed... it took so many years for philly to finally get a first pick...im glad we got KP but im not going to lie im mad we had a winning streak during the end of the 2014 season which cost us 1 win away from towns

The Orlando Magic got lucky when they got shaq one year then Penny Hardaway the next (who was actually traded for Chris Webber)....it's all luck but they couldn't become the next dynasty unfortunately. Lakers stole Shaq away and then, they got lucky with Kobe....Didn't win until Phil came.

If we ever have an L at a summit, I know who to stay away from to not have my high killed b

We buzzin bout getting Rose, Jennings, Noah, and Courtney Lee. Almond Milk byke. And dudes outchea discussing tanking like we back in April.

Lmaooo. I like how you sneaked in "almondmilk byke" in there.

Our only jobs as fans is to watch the games. Tanking makes that much more difficult. If you guys don't watch the games why even follow the team?
