Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Carmelo was asked if he understands management's vision for the future of the team. I'm paraphrasing, but he essentially said that he didn't
#HeGone
Nah this was it I think. He's gonna play out next season, pick up his player option and then hopefully by that time Phil will be gone and Dolan can resign him to a 5 year 200 million dollar contract and he'll retire with the Knicks

Gotta agree with taking the precautionary approach with KP.

He's an agile big that had an achilles injury coupled with now what seems to be a sprained ankle. We need to protect our asset.

Just shut KP down for the season. Got a horrible feeling us making him play through injury is making him worse.

He hit that wall a while back and they took the offensive focus off of him.

Wouldn't be against shutting him down, but I'd like to see him gain his confidence back.

If KP is legit having an issue of course shut him down as medically needed otherwise what's the point? We aren't winning anyway and he wont get better on the bench. KP needs to get his confidence back more than he needs to sit imo. He's been appearing really frail this season with all the tummy aches and injuries :frown:

It's just evident that he needs more muscle on that frame. We can't consistently put him at the five without it.

Last night I saw Kyrie Irving set a solid screen on KP which looked to be effective. I couldn't believe how frail and weak KP really is. I'm 5'10 and 195lbs. I'm pretty confident that I can take him if I wanted to.

I'm not an advocate of forcing muscle mass onto a thin frame, especially of a young person. It can cause a breakdown just as bad as lacking muscle.

Dude definitely needs to build strength though. But let him add that grown man strength more naturally with age.

Dudes were never fully thinking through KP at the 5. Calling him a center.

they really weren't. damn near 80% of this thread was clamoring him to play the 5. now they're slowly starting to realize that he really isn't ready, but what do i know...i've only been saying that since forever :rolleyes

We get destroyed down low anyway; might as well maximize offense with Melo & Porzingis at the 4 & 5.

No point of maximizing anything anymore Nick.

Melo is toxic. Phil is a cancer. And KP stuck in the middle. Just gotta ride it out and hope Melo gets moved and we get a top pick. Nothing else to really hope for.
