Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

Then I guess we'll be like the kings constantly drafting in that 8-12 range and going no where for a decade.

We had plenty of NBA players with only one top 3 pick in the last 17 years. Hasn't got us anywhere.

That's because your front office had a tendency to trade away their picks, not because the Knicks didn't tank

Trading away picks pretty much took tanking out of the equation. If we suck, have only 1 real young stud going forward, while still having our pick we have to tank.

Just for the hell of it here are the picks we did trade away and who was drafted.

2001: Jason Collins
2002: nene
2004: Kirk snyder
2006: Lamarcus Aldridge
2007: Joakim Noah
2010: Gordon Hayward (Paul George was next pick)
2012: Royce White
2014: Dario Saric
2016: Jamal Murray

You guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment yet again if you think we have any chance at making the playoffs. Just look at our schedule from march 20-April 12

Oh and yeah this tank talk is crazy.

thinking about making the playoffs is crazier

we haven't won consecutive games in over 2 months

That stretch of games is where I hope we make up for these wins.

We're projected to finish 33-49 which would be the 7th pick.

3 games behind for the 4th pick in the draft

4 games behind for the 8th seed in the playoffs

am i missing something or does 1 sound a lot better than the other???

Draft a stud PG to pair with KP for next 10 years or get swept in the 1st round. Seems like rather get swept is the consensus here

Jokic looking like gawd over there. [emoji]128064[/emoji]
Yeah he's working over there lol but I'm pretty sure KP's "regression" (Even though his averages and shooting % are up from last year) has everything to do with having TWO score first point guards running an offense than him actually regressing

Between Rose and BJ trying to create their own shots most the time KP has been forced to do the same when he gets the ball which is something he didn't have to do nearly as much last year. This is probably why if were going by the eye test he seems to be struggling a lot more often then last year

That's part of it. I also feel like he lacks aggressiveness at times. No way he should be losing post up battles to opposing guards. Picking up silly fouls also hurts him. I'm still a big proponent of bringing someone in to help him fine tune his game but I guess management doesn't feel the same

I don't think KP is as good as you guys think..

If he was more like Jokic there would be no issues. That dude can create for himself face up, post up, and he can even create for others.

Feel like with KP it's a struggle fest if he doesn't get the ball on the move or if he doesn't have a clean look. His iso game is highly struggle. Opposing teams have gotten away with switching a small on him all yr

Jokic is playing next to a pass first PG & for a coach that emphasizes a modern offense.

Also, his defensive potential is not close to Porzingis'.

Pass first or not it doesn't matter. Jokic is way more of an independent player than KP. You put Jokic on the Knicks he'll be fine with Rose.

I've seen plenty of highlights where Jokic was comfortable in iso up top or down low and even create for others. The man plays like a giant point guard himself at times. Can't say the same for KP. He needs to be fed his scoring opportunities.

As of right now, Jokic > KP

KP obviously has the better potential, but the kid doesn't know how to play the game yet and lets small guys punk him all game long.

If he knew how to use his length and frame, he'd be looting in a riot.

KP needs to seriously work on his lateral movement this summer and come with a full arsenal of moves, whether they be facing the basket and having his back to the basket. His footwork and soft touch is going to waste.
