Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

I don't understand the people who are so in love with the basketball of the 90s compared to now

Sure it was more physical but damn man the 90s were some of the sloppiest, ugliest years of pro ball we've seen in terms of fundamental ball

Pro basketball as a whole is 100x more polished and better to watch now then it was anytime before now
I agree. But it's just so predictable. Fun to watch, but you know who's gonna be in the Finals for the most part. Not even speaking on the 90's, just talking about now.

If Issac falls into our lap :nerd:

Perfect fit for us, give us a defensive stopper who can guard 1-4, shoot three's and has a diverse skill set. I'd argue he probably has the highest ceiling in the entire draft.

Plus, he's from the BX.

If the Knicks dont draft one of the SIX ******* stud PGs, Im gonna lose my ****. I am over these Calderon/Rose/etc stop gap PGs. We havent had a franchise PG since Marbury left. We need to draft Porzingis' floor general/running mate for the next decade+. So as much as I like players like Jackson, Taytum, Isaac, and others, if we draft one of those dudes over the likes of Fultz, Ball, Monk, Ntiklina, Smith, Fox (even though Fox is my least favorite) I'm gonna lose my **** with this team. This is the year we finally find our ******* franchise PG. this is a PG driven league right now, it's time to finally catch on and this is just the draft to do it.

Check out latest episode of my podcast if yall want:

Assuming we stay in the 6 spot (which I don't think we will) Fultz, Ball, & DSJr will likely be off the board. I don't think we're in a position to reach for Ntilikina or Fox. I like Monk but he's more of a 2 than a true 1.

We need a PG but we're not one piece away from a top 4 seed. Draft the BPA & hope for the best.

Well that's just what happens when you have competent people managing a team. You build consistent contenders

Since 2010 there's been 3 different East teams in the finals and 6 different West teams

In the 90s, there was 4 different East teams and 7 different West teams that made it to the finals so one could argue its as predictable as it's ever been.

What made 90s basketball so much more unpredictable then now?

Knicks are in no position to draft a PG if there isn't one at that spot worth taking.

They absolutely have to take the best player on the board because aside from KP, we don't have one guy who really can project as a starter full-time.

2 of those east teams are just LeBron and his pals.

The league is definitely in good hands going forward. Things I miss are the physicality and competent officiating. Also we can't act like the 5 position wasn't completely extinct until recently. I just don't like the whole "super team" thing (Heat, current Warriors) but that's really it

 Maybe in China.

I see your point about PGs though.  It's frustrating that the Knicks have been so bad at PG for so long and that they have no one to run the offense properly.  But no shoot-first point guards, please.  A John Wall type would be amazing.

Who was the last franchise PG though, every time that I think of quintessential PGs for NY I think Rod Strickland/Mark Jackson.

Chris Duhon
Ray Felton
See every time we attempt to have dialogue on pressing issues concerning the organization Nick you pull this stunt, seriously, how do you leave McKinely Singelton off of the list? Former great Brooks Thompson, he was a staple for that 97 squad.
