Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread - Page 387

The draft has brought us something we can work with in Kristaps, this year is very talent heavy. We aren't building teams properly through free agency. Might as well use the draft. All we've been signing is reclamation guys for years.

I don't get why y'all are so against this. Ain't no reward or badge of honor being given out for not tanking. Young, cost controlled talent is the best way going forward. We are already stuck in a vicious cycle, trying quick fixes. Where's the continuity in that? Just failure.
I'm fine w building through the draft, I just wouldn't go about it by blowing it all up again. Trade rose and Noah or buy them out. Get rid of the guys who aren't playing integral roles in this team. But maintain a core and build continuity. Guys like Lee, Melo, KOQ, BJ, Kuz, KP and Willy are good enough foundation pieces. Add talented youngsters and useful vets around them and that'll rebuild the franchise. Going all out Hinkie doesn't do ****.

Look at the Spurs. They never tanked. One bad season, got their Duncan and continued to scout exceptionally well and find talented players. They built around what they had. No reason we can't do that.
Tanking would be an improvement at this point laugh.gif one of those "I meant to do that seasons" roll.gif We gonna eff around and be in the lottery without trying

I'm with at @onewearz. We gotta start fining cats for smiling during the game, I don't care if we up by 20 in the 4th with a minute left. Goon up!

if only we lost more games towards the end of the season instead of going on a winning streak we coulda had towns instead of KP mean.gif

Stop it.

What a disappointing string of play, capped off by that loss last night.

I don't even know what the fix is this season.

Well, my close friend who I avoid Knicks discussion with thinks we should trade Derrick Rose and Brandon Jennings for Chris Paul.

Reminded me why everyone makes fun of Knicks fans.

Understandable. I just don't think certain pieces of this core are worth keeping to justify that idea but I get it.

Funny thing is Minnesota is probably the one team having a more disappointing season than NYC.

i disagree... our season is more disappointing to be honest... our team is built to compete right now not an elite team but at least a .500 team that can make the playoffs while minnesota is a young team built for the future.. we signed lee, resigned lance, overpaid noah and traded for rose for no reason but to lose a lot this year... i agree keep the core and get rid of everyone else... the only good signings was kuz and willie but everyone else is not a good fit here and it was a waste of time signing or trading for those players...theres still time to turn the season around but the way they played recently it doesnt look promising... one more huge losing streak and its definitely over for the season

Actually going all out Hinkie does work...

They have a future Superstar, amazing pieces (noel/Saric), a possible another star in Simmons and another top 3 pick coming plus the Lakers pick probably.

They will be very good at some point soon in the next five years.

And its laughable to say the Knicks have foundational pieces. We have KP and that's it. No one over 30 is a foundational piece on a team that won't even win more than 32 games.

Tanking isn't always the answer but it is the smart move in many situations. As I said before the season, this team is going nowhere fast.

Our ceiling was the 8th seed if everthing went right, if everything went wrong, we would probably land a top 7 pick.

Being in that position is worse than being the worst team in the league and its why the Knicks haven't been good in almost 20 years now cause we aren't in a position to get the best talent through the draft but yet we aren't even a playoff team.

I guess that's debatable based on expectations but IDK man. I think for Minnesota it's worse because they thought they had all the pieces there. Now it looks like it might have to get blown up again (also Thibs has been a disaster). Realistic Knick fans knew there is still work to do in terms of building the roster.

She started buying sexy *** knicks tank tops and **** lol. Huge red flag right there though, shoulda known ***** wasnt loyal. Miss getting head during the games in my dorm though mean.gif

This team is bad. Like really bad. This team has some of the worst defense I've ever seen in my life. Top 5 pick worthy

Fax. Our defense literally single handedly makes us horrible.

They absolutely did tank.

That is how they got Duncan. They were one of the originals to do it.

And San Antonio has the best culture/ownership/organization in sports while we owned by an inept dumbass.

And Minnesota isn't even comparable. Those kids are babies, they are 21. Basketball is a grown man sport and when those guys are grown men, they will be really, really good. It will just take a while.

Duhon, Mardy Collins, Toney Douglas, Felton, Lin, washed Baron Davis, washed Billups, Bibby, Jose Calderon??? I can live with Rose until we find at least a good pg or convince J Kidd to come back. laugh.gif

Tank talk makes me sad. We've already been bad for so long. 😔

They had one bad season after the admiral went down just like we did when Melo was hurt and got KP. The difference is they kept building around what they had instead of continually blowing it up like you and everyone else wants. The foundation of their dynasty post drafting Duncan was built around late first rounders, second rounders and solid veteran transactions. They then went out and traded a good role player for a kid no one really thought was a superstar in the making when they drafted kawhi. The Spurs model shows how you can win and build without enduring 7 straight losing seasons.

Imagine how good KP would be with good defenders around him.

they also had the same coach for more than a season. THAT is where the continuity needs to start.

I'm starting to worry about KP. Dude always shows flashes but for some reason cant put a string of consistent all around games together. Last year he was almost a double double machine. Now he averages what 5 rebounds? Airballing wide open jumpers. Etc
