Official 2017 Knicks Offseason thread, Phil Jackson gone

The things I like about Rubio are his passing ability and character

His contract doesn't look bad though

I can see Rubio and KP end up like this

Even if we draft a top PG, Rubio would be a great second-string PG. Better than having a guy who dribbles for 15 seconds almost every possession

Y'all are really obsessed with Rubio. At least Rose can score if nothing else. I just don't see Rubio coming in and having the huge impact y'all envision. He's not gonna come in and be a leader.
I agree. I don't see the Rubio fixation. Let's say he gets here, right. And teams figure out, hey let's sag back on Rubio and take away his passing options and forice him to shoot the ball. Then you guys will turn on him and get mad at his inability to shoot. Then get mad he doesn't go to the basket or get his own shot, then you'll criticize his defense and so on and so on and so on...

 I love this thread

whats rubios current contract status?

The upside to keeping rose is we can let him go at the end of the season and we have $ coming off the book.

I kind of like that freedom

Current rumor is Rose to Minny, Rubio to Detroit & Reggie Jackson to the Garden.

Please no....

~$14M/year

We're not signing a better PG for anything less than $25M/year. Bringing him in also allows for more flexibility in the draft.

trading Rose for RJ is a lateral move at best. financially, we basically keep a Rose type player for roughly 50mil until 2020 or overpay Rose. I prefer to just keep Rose and let him walk in the offseason. I'm tired of having no cap space. Regardless if top (or any) players wanna come here or not, I'd rather pay some bums than have 3 max guys and cripple us for years.

Code:
Player 2016/17 2017/18 2018/19 2019/20 2020/21
Reggie Jackson $14,956,522 $16,000,000 $17,043,478 $18,086,956 $0
Ricky Rubio $13,400,000 $14,100,000 $14,800,000 $0 $0

Definitely no to Reggie Jackson

Phil smoking that Reggie if we do that. Trade a shoot first PG who's contract expires for a shoot first PG with an overloaded contract? how much money and picks would that come with?
