Come from a wealthy family. That's step one.

Come from a wealthy family. That's step two.

I'm pretty much out of ideas on how to afford this ****** city.

Why? This place is a ****hole, to be completely honest...lol

New York is hardly NY anymore, city done lost its essence to a bunch of yuppies.

Same with San Francisco. I can for the most part get along with anybody, but not hipsters. I was at a bar in San Francisco a while back and couldn't wait to get out of there. the people annoyed the living hell out of me like never before.

Im not from nyc but ive moved to bigger cities before on a whim. I suggest you take a trip there for a week or two and look at places, find locations and get an idea of what you are willing to settle for. Get some job interviews line up, maybe try to find a roommate which will probably be necessary if you plan on staying in the city.

Its going to be extremely dificult to get the logistics of renting a place done over the phone/email. Same thing with getting hired.

Unless you got a lot of savings, $10k at least, and are willing to blow it all to try and make it work. Go out there, get a place, and hope you can get a job that will pay your bills before the savings run dry lol. Good luck though, i got much respect for those that wanna get out into the world all on their own and make it happen. Not everyones built for that.

Don't do it unless ur making 6 figures..if not move to the surrounding areas

I'm going to visit NY in Nov. for the first time and I can't wait. Just for some vacay :smokin

First step = Don't. Enjoy the nice clean atmosphere that you are currently in. Don't turn it in for the filth. The drunks. The smells. The $3,600 a month shoe box of a studio apartment. The random crusty/squater in your hallway looking for a good place to shoot dope.. The weekly whif of a garbage truck that you didn't see coming passing by you as you walk down the street.. The MTA. The 7 train that's always packed at 2am for some strange reason. The tourist. The rats. The pigeons.. The 12 year olds with yeezys and gold teeth. Santa con. I could go on and on.. Basically If you enjoy being a terrible person and utterly miserable, all in order to survive, NYC is the place for you.. The only things that happen in NYC socially are food, drugs and alcohol. I'm telling you that's all these people have to do. There really is nothing else to do here. And if you do happen to move here, make sure you're in a rush to go absolutely nowhere 24/7. And make sure you are the biggest deal in the world and everybody is beneath you. - 13 years a new yorker

 whenever I visit my friends up there for a couple weeks I pretty much think of these exact same things. The money I could make there in the city would be much more than I could make here in North Carolina but the cost of living would be like quadruple and it's just dirty as **** everywhere there. I'm not trying to take a damn train or sit in traffic for hours everywhere I go. I've always wanted to live in a city but I think I'd rather go with Charlotte than NYC at this point.

yeah, NYC isnt just Williamsburg & SoHo.

plenty of shoe lace & bubble gum options out there. nothing glamorous though.

1st off, dont come over here without any money...u gonna need at least a few G's in survival money till you get on your feet.

-u can rent rooms for like 120-150 a week.

-craiglist got jobs, gigs..so navigate da landscape to get work ASAP.

hope u don't owe any student loans with that history major...

Good luck, I got my B.A. in History and if you tryna be a teacher or go into law, it's worthless b.

Go for it bruh. You're only young once. I don't think you wanna look back and say "Damn, I should've made that move to NYC"

If it doesn't work, I'm sure you can move back to wherever you're from.

pending financials, why not? what do you have to loose?

rough it out with roommate(s) and see where you are in six months...if you are 25 or under, you probably dont have much in terms of obligations...
