I wanna live in NYC... Whats step #1

Might move out to Brooklyn for a temporary job for 6 months, but my main goal is to go out there and fail, like I never acted before, but I'm going to try out for every casting call there is....also is prospect park a chill area?

Why is your main goal to fail like you've never acted before

Never left the northeast and don't plan on doing so anytime soon unless it's a big release somewhere like chicago or something. Nyc is where the money's at
:pimp:

What exactly is your job in NYC?

NYC=Overpopulated and overpriced

Native ny'er here. I love my city, but man I dislike whats happening here.

Planning on spending a few years in NYC after graduate school.

Money won't really be an issue since i with in finance.

I only want to do 2-5 years though.

Anything more than that and I think I might share the same sentiments as other NY famb in here.

Definitely looking at Harlem, Greenwich, or Astoria

what job markets are boomin right now? for all the nt'ers who live in the city right now what do yall do if you dont mind me askin

im graduating this dec with a degree in history

but i got 2+ years of basic IT work in... mostly help desk stuff so i wanna get into IT field... any tips? :nerd:

become a waiter for quick money because you aint finding IT in NYC bruh... and find some roommates, live in queens because it cheaper, dont get a car, learn to live off of Veggies and water or arab chicken shack..

good luck!

Stay where you are at and consider moving to cities that are currently developing into urban/gentrification hubs. NYC is NOT the place to move too right now. I have no idea why people are still moving here in droves when they are gonna have to move back home in like a year or two.

he sure is...

the fact is NYC eats its kids.... so people not strong enough or had a rough time making it here always tell cats how horrible it is in the NEW NYC... pre-bike lane NYC was a good time but move with the wave and learn to hustle differnt and NYC is a dream everyday..

i live in flatbush.... Gentrification is at a all time time high over here...

NYC is still poppin!

just turn down your expectations and youll love it...

yeah, NYC isnt just Williamsburg & SoHo.

plenty of shoe lace & bubble gum options out there. nothing glamorous though.

1st off, dont come over here without any money...u gonna need at least a few G's in survival money till you get on your feet.

-u can rent rooms for like 120-150 a week.

-craiglist got jobs, gigs..so navigate da landscape to get work ASAP.

hope u don't owe any student loans with that history major...

dead on point boy!

the grit dont quit in nyc you gotta roll with the punches....

Find a job and place to stay BEFORE you move here. Have a lot of money saved up too. People move here thinking it's gonna be like a movie or tv show and then reality hits them real quick. NYC is not for the weak or laid back type.

Im from NY and currently in Houston. I love to visit for a good 2 weeks but it gets old quick and its gritty and dirty out there. Im over that.

My friend is trying to move to LA with only $23k saved I told him its not enough.  Don't move to NYC without at least $50k saved

It's like the go-to move for young folks especially if they're Black.

wow :rolleyes

If your friend is trying to buy a house or coop, 50K is a good amount. But if hes going to rent, he should be fine with 23k. Is he on drugs tho?

Everybody's coming here but not everyone can find a job in 7 days. You may have to work several part time, on and off the books for a bit. Receptionist by day, waiter by night for example.
