Any Gen X folks on this board? Why do you guys always sound so salty?

No millenials are those born 1980-1995
This should have been part of the first post
Kanye, a 39 year old saying "we are the millenials" was the funniest thing to me. Honestly, I feel like people born from 93 and on should be considered millenials, but idk
That's not what the definition is though. It's so arbitrary. All of these generational labels have always been arbitrary to me. Idk not everyone fits in the box of old and out of touch, I think people go a bit too far saying that, and not all younger people are dumb as bricks.

"- it's much more illegal to hit people now. in years past, folks held their tongues if they didn't want to lick knuckles, now people can just type up some crowd-pleasing ether or provoke a person they clearly can't handle under protection of the law, like kicking dirt at a big dog on a thick chain.

hell, thinking about it is there any real-life consequence for most of the flagrantly disrespectful actions we've all seen in various YouTube videos? as my pop so often says..."back in the day, that woulda got your *** whooped.""

That burns me up man.

I think @Rexanglorum  is right. I'm 35, and I'm easily adaptable to tech. When I think about it, I was there from the early stages of Coleco vision, Atari, Nintendo, Playstation, and X box and computers. Older people tend to have problems with tech. All my life, I've been able to, for the most part, pick up new tech, learn it and use it, without even reading a manual. But at the same time, I know the dewey decimal system, know how to write letters, and can use a rotary phone

Lol...

Theres young people in this new generation which I call the
SAVAGE generation... out here doimg big things without anyones permission...

Cosmiccoffee sounds like a kid still asking for permission
yeah bruh, I had to have all these permission slips signed to become a freelance travel writer. I'm impressed that you know my story so well, you must read my stuff.

maybe next time you can take into account that people consider lifestyles outside their own when discussing big picture subjects?

It isn't even modern technology that ***** us up either, it's the way we use it. The human mind wasn't meant to process the amount of stimulation that gets thrown at it when a person goes on a social media binge or whatever. We don't have the mental facilities to be concerned with everything that's going on in every corner of the world. Humans are tribal animals.

When used correctly modern technology can help us to learn, build, and stay healthy way longer than nature would usually allow. However, when people go online just to bust their outrage nut modern technology is a destructive force.

It def isn't scientific, but I use pop culture knowledge to gauge peoples generation that I associate with.

You are of my generation if you think:

Usher's best album is My way, Not confessions

You know who Kordell Stewart is

You remember where you were when Columbine happened

Lil Wayne is Not the best member of Cash Money

Tapanga was that girl

You remember when lockouts happened every year in sports it seemed....etc...

Professionally, the older millennials are at an advantage imo. The people who write the checks are still baby boomers, and they recognize the millennial trends in all lines of business. But still want individuals making decisions that can navigate the needs of the growing millennial market, while being able to communicate with older individuals that can't use iPads.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2015

Millennials Outnumber Baby Boomers and Are Far More Diverse, Census Bureau Reports
June 25, 2015

Release Number: CB15-113

JUNE 25, 2015 — Millennials, or America’s youth born between 1982 and 2000, now number 83.1 million and represent more than one quarter of the nation’s population. Their size exceeds that of the 75.4 million baby boomers, according to new U.S. Census Bureau estimates released today. Overall, millennials are more diverse than the generations that preceded them, with 44.2 percent being part of a minority race or ethnic group (that is, a group other than non-Hispanic, single-race white).

Da Census has spoken...

it is all wise and knowing, and if it comes from da Census, it shall be so...

Next generation is going to be interesting with the demographics flipped...

Also interested to see what my generation does with the world. Definitely seem more sensible and inclusive, but I'm sure that's what every generation says in comparison to the last.

I wonder what the long term effect of that would be

I'm a millenial who can't stand millenials. LOL

Just the people who are vegan, hardcore pro democrate, complain about everything, get offended by everything, if you order a hamburger they will explain to you why it was a bad choice

I mean, personally, it doesn't bother me. It's easier for me to succeed in life against these "free will" people. But on the other hand, I think these kids are just more enlightened and pushing new ideas and norms forward.

I mean, I would love to not work, live in a camper van in LA and surf all day. But, I want a family too. Gotta build secuirty for that.

Also, come on. They're still kids. If they're pushing 30+ and are still this way, then smfh. But, I guess it's ok? Because they wont get married, have kids, and its out of the genepool for good :nerd:

Most of these kids though, like to push that image of being successful without actually being successful. Oh, man, the ones with the degree at Starbucks that will correct you on your English

Well ****, if I majored in English, ya, I wouldnt speak that way, but I also would be working at Starbucks. Thanks for spelling my name right on the cup :smokin PREACH

Tell em why u mad son

There definitely had to be a divide between millinials, I can't really relate to cats born after 1987

Feel like depending upon your ethnicity and class millennials can't all be shuffled into the same category.

Im the only black dude at my job with a staff of 30-35ish.... Im also one of maybe 3 in the 'millennial' generation here.

Majority of the complaints I've heard don't seem to apply at all.

EDIT: Like I just watched 5 minutes of the video @JayPesoz  posted and still got it playing....

I don't relate to anything dude said. Definitely seems like disposable income white people problems, no offense intended at all.

Most of this millennial hate is a way of expressing some other issue.

Are you insecure that you are poor and couldn't got to college? Make fun of millennial who got degrees in "feminism studies."

Got issues with women who don't spend their 20's marrying and raising children? make fun of "special snowflakes."

Have racial anxiety? Call educated white people who don't "****s."

Wish that your parents had been more supportive? Then bang on about "participation Trophies."

Dude in the video is speakin nonsense for the most part. He's from the "don't ask questions, just do" generation (X) Gen X cats don't challenge anything for the most part and are happy w/ the status quo in the work place. I'm an older millennial so I'm in the "Hey go to college while we screw up the economy" age range. Any person who values their time and work don't want to work a mundane, menial job just for a pay check, let alone many of us can't afford low pay due to student loans.

for the older millennials, many of us hate the fact that we work for peanuts, meanwhile the older generation who have less skill/knowledge than us get promoted and get positions over us and don't know what the hell they're doin.

^ millennials never had any real cartoons to enjoy anyway & how smug to assume there might only be 20 years left - of course it has to happen on the millennial's watch...how could such a defining moment forsake them?

Am I a millennial I def watched cartoons born 1988 .... we had simpsons , x men the animated series animaniacs ... Spider-Man , batman etc oh and Pokémon

With all due respect the women that don't want to marry and have babies in their 20s might never marry ... imo its a good idea for a woman to get married younger while she can ... she might not be able to later

You just went full ******, my g.

Also, millennial is just a disparaging term for someone younger than you.
