Sooooooo.... A Tree Fell On My Car. What Are My Options?

I am beside myself right now.... A tree just miraculously fell right on top of my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. :stoneface:

The car was parked next to a near by tree. Police and nearby tow company towed it to the shop. My car is crushed beyond reasoning. I do not have full coverage insurance but i do have insurance. Of course. What are my options, fellas?

Oh and the tree is in front of someone's house. Not rooted from their yard but rooted on the sidewalk.
 
Nothing you can do. City will not pay for it. They are going to tell you to hit up your insurance. Why don't you have full coverage though?

Edit: Sorry OP I did some research. Sorry if the pic is small but dude said this is "an act of God" and your only way to win a lawsuit would be to prove that the tree was dead/diseased/dying and needed to be removed earlier.

At least you didn't dieded.

You're best bet would be to find a tree or city lawyer and see what you're options are.

Just cause the mechanic said you should sue the city doesn't mean it's feesable.

Also, take it as learning experience and get full coverage next time.

Now boss up wit that city fetty and get you a lifted silverado.

Damn, that's ****** up. On the bright side at least u wasn't in the car.
 
Find a geologist who can determine if the tree was decaying or not based on the stump

If it was, let us know when you get da Hemi
 
If you don't carry collision on your car at least ALWAYS carry comp. And it's way cheaper than collision no reason not to carry it.
 
Happened to me in HS while driving. Came out of nowhere......

Couldn't even get out either of the two front doors 

Had small dents all over the top and side

Body shop or whatever labeled it totaled 

It was the wolfsburg edition with the leather interior seats too

One second faster though the tree would have crushed the top and not the windshield area
