Mostly the idiot transplants and people who have never lived in a proper city and get too excited about SF end up doing that. Most Bay Area natives know you can get your own studio for that much or an apartment for $2100- $2400 15 minutes outside of the city/in the less "popular" parts of the city. Which is still a lot but pretty standard in the non **** parts of the Bay/LA

Before I moved out of SF to my own spot, I was renting a room in a 2 bedroom spot for $1000 in the city. I moved out because I can afford my own spot now, but I live in a luxury apartment 25 mins away versus paying the same for an unrenovated spot built in 1920 in the city.

You can literally take a 10 minute BART ride to Oakland and get great spots for a lot cheaper, but idiots still think all of Oakland is just like East Oakland. The Piedmont, Lake Merrit, and Oakland Hills areas are nicer and cleaner than any part of the city, and Downtown Oakland has improved A LOT

$450 won't even get you an apartment in nasty @#$ Fresno, Bakersfield, and all those other Central Cali cities

$1800 x 30 = :wow:

Did some of those rooms not have windows? That's disgusting... 4 adults in a small windowless room.... inhaling and exhaling throughout the night. :x

That's crazy. Exactly what you wrote is what's going in Manhattan. I'm in awe of how similar it is. Like the homie who was running for mayor couple years ago said , Rent Is Too Damn High.

There are plenty of cities that have BART stations and cheaper apartments throughout the Bay Area.

Terrible situation there, but people pay it :smh: . Mainly, lots of younger kids who move in with like 4 other people ala college style and split the rent cost.

So for the first time ever...the argument can be made that

CA = NY

:wow:

But NY > CA. Sorry man, but coming from a west coast cat, NYC almost had me moving if it wasn't for the weather  . East coast just seems like a different animal, but it all depends on the lifestyle you like. If I was going city, NYC. I think SF rent is > than NY though.

You have to be an idiot to settle for this. Most transplants are closed-minded to anywhere besides the city and never go out to the eastbay or peninsula. There's even areas away from the Mission and downtown that are less expensive, it's just transplants want to be in the areas that are "happening".

Trying to drive down Polk St. on a Friday or Saturday night is :smh:

I woke up at 530 am. Worked till 7 pm. Just home now. Tired of this bay area grind. Rent sucks and so does the crazy work ethic. Been getting in at 730 leaving round 7 everyday.

Move away your time and happiness is worth more than a full day grind everyday

the east coast is much better in the sense that you can go to different cities in 2-4 hour drives. CA is so large and so spread apart. i would say as far as nature sights go, the west has more variety, but as far as the amount of urban cities goes, the east is better.

just depends what you are into.

It's ******ed yo. That chill Cali lifestyle is getting sucked up by this "grind" our here in the bay. SoCal >

I work 12's and my rent is $400. I'm in California city. My chick is from SF but they had a 2 bedroom for $1600 in San anselmo or what ever. She use to also live in San Rafael which wasn't too far from the city. Get to see the bridge a lot.

Seattle/Northwest > CA cause the rent & min wage alone.
