NFL Week in Review: Week 3 aka The Carson Wentz Thread

Wrong, after 1-2-3 games?

Lot of QB's flash early. Don't make their story finished.

They can keep posting my posts from the draft thread every game, that's fine.

But when it goes the other way (like how they used to suck Chip off) they'll move on to the "next" Philly hype machine.

But hey, as of right now, Carson Wentz is better than Aaron Rodgers. Week 3 Hot Takes Thread lives on. :pimp:

it doesn't matter because you won't ever move away from your initial position hence you still say Jimmy G is better than Gronk

which is why I'm glad we'll have Bradford or Daniel in place to mostly be the starter at the beginning of the season (always a chance he wins the job in camp).. hopefully we can get a pick(s) for one of them, to help recoup the picks traded away

also glad we put resources through the draft and free agency into our Oline and receiving core

but then you get stuff like this:
But there are college football junkies on this board. Die hards. Not a one of em ever watched a minute of Carson Wentz. Now he's goin #2 in the NFL draft. At the cost of several draft picks.

I find that ridiculous.
kid was invited to the senior bowl for a reason.. and even then A TON of prospects from big and small schools rise (or fall) after that week of practices.. once they get a chance to be exposed to the guys, scouts and coaches then go back and look at the film work and see what does or doesn't match up with the film

also not opposed to his views on valuing picks.. which is why I'm also glad, we didn't pull one of these:

http://www.canalstreetchronicles.co...-draft-saints-ricky-williams-mike-ditka-trade

we traded 5 picks.. and received 2 in return

3 of those 5 picks are in a year in which we had 10 picks.. so we will go into the draft with 7, which is how much each team is usuaully allotted
it doesnt have to be 6th round tho. the point is it doesn't have to be a top 10 pick where you trade away 4 or 5 picks.

and for the eagles it's even worse, they don't even know which guy they're getting. they have an idea i'm sure, but it's not definite. of course, they might think both guys are going to be stellar, so that point might be moot
they supposedly know, which is why they made the deal.. obviously I'm not in the building, but the beat reporters have said as much

just not being reported.. remember this:

Carson aint going no where barring injury I can guarantee that. This isn't no RGIII type fluky success that Carson is having. He has every singly trait you look for in a franchise QB and his preparation is next level. Is he going to struggle and throw picks at some point this season like NORMAL rookies do? Of course he will... Im sure the haters will be out in full force when it happens too. But any rational NFL fan/scout/expert who can use their own eyes agrees that the kid is going to be legit.

I've been hearing ratings have been lower this season so far, but this one just sounds like a case of matchups that the public wanted to view over ones that aired on another station. Overall, I wouldn't be mad if the ratings dropped or kept dropping given how much I hate all the rule changes that have happened, but the only fear would be Goodell going into hyper-drive and ruining the game completely.

Based on the things that were said in response to what Mike mayock said, the bar for a lot of folks is extremely low inclusive of CP

He gotta be gabbert for them to be right.. Browns level takes.. What mayock said and people laughed:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...goffwentz-every-bit-as-good-as-winstonmariota

And then we didn't have enough assets left after the trade to build around him.. I guess we'll forfeit picks come draft time.. Maybe

The real experts such as NTers who don't even bother to watch highlights and just throw **** against the wall really know

Our supposed 'hot takes': "maybe the coaches and scouts saw something in the big guy with a strong arm that's a straight A student and zero red flags off field"

MAYBE.. Cause none of us knew or expected this.. But Rodgers didn't go straight to cal out of high school.. Or you got cam going to that school in Texas between Florida and auburn

But I'm just glad the guy is on my team.. And the Vikings traded for Bradford

But pats got Brady in the 6th round so every team should plan accordingly

Don't think the Browns front office is bragging to everyone anymore that they didn't think Carson Wentz was any good.

Mary Kay Cabot@MaryKayCabot 5h5 hours ago

At Sr. Bowl in January, highly-respected #NFL exec told me: 'If #Browns take Wentz at 2, they'll be set for 15 yrs'
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2016/01/nfl_exec_if_the_browns_draft_q.html

it was weird to me that they kept talking bout Wentz after the fact, like OK you weren't high on him why you still bringing it up tho.

Next time we'll know to wait until after the Eagles trade up to draft someone and all of you rush to find youtube vids of a guy you never heard of for some expert analysis. That'll tell us who's really good and who isn't. :pimp:

I hope the kid lasts long term for y'all's sakes. Cuz you and boutime have @'d just about every football fan in the country that isn't an Eagle fan that disagreed with trading multiple picks for a D2 guy. Had it not been the Eagles, both of you woulda been right there with us.

FCS and D1-AA are basically just nicer ways of saying D2. It's like calling a fat girl big-boned.

This thread is a prime example of why Philly fans can't have nice things.
or maybe cp should have accepted "hey, I didn't watch the guy.. maybe the guys who are actually paid to be scouts and the NFL coaches actually know something I don't"

me and @StillIn729  only talked about the little we knew (measurements and the stuff that got reported during the process), talked about the eagles extensive search for a QB post mcnabb and then about how the draft picks were allocated

we never pretended to know something about something we had never seen (or seen very little).. but we also didn't use that as some sort of damning condemnation of the dude, like some folk
