Hiring babysitters (ie. not someone from the family or close friends)

Streaming music (I understand it, but would rather have the files locally)

Hiring babysitters? Do you mean, why isn't the mother or father at home raising the child?

Streaming...I was with you about this before. Now, I prefer to stream music for the convenience.

Nah, I mean at least someone from the family (sister, cousin, aunt, etc)  or a close friend to watch the kid

I don't have any family near me, or much family at all for that matter. I almost have no choice when I have a kid but to hire a sitter.

And any family I would have near me would likely be working like me.

Smoking cigarettes...with all the knowledge about how terrible they are, why would anyone try one in the first place?

I mean I understand most people start when they are drinking or on probation, but I just don't see what good they think will come of it.

I don't think streaming music is such a great thing as well.

You're paying a monthly subscription to listen to music, while you're burning through your data at the same time. I get there's a function of convenience that's put at a higher premium, but I personally would rather download the music files (lossless quality) on my own and not have to worry about and consequences of not having internet or blowing through your data plan.

Unless I'm missing something here?

Does iTunes play lossless music? If so, I may consider going back this route when I get my computer.

If I went through and bought every album or song I want to listen to for this month, I'd be paying about 12 months worth of Spotify membership price. If not more. And that amount increases as more music releases or as I discover artists.

Maybe as a musician I'm different, since I constantly listen to music, and new music I've discovered too. It's much easier to discover artists when I have complete access to their records at all times.

I do purchase CD's and vinyl records, though. For collection / support purposes for the artists I really enjoy and know I'll listen to for years to come.

Yeah, back home in CA. Both my parents and the in-laws are still working. So my wife and I had to decide to pay for babysitting (ridiculously expensive) or have her stay home and I work.

Now, she stays home with her and I work. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Good point. Also, how much data do you guys really use. I stream music through Spotify with the highest quality and i have 15gb a month and don't even get near to reaching that limit.

Maybe I'm just not a heavy user?

I get streaming music, but I don't do it either. Would rather have the files downloaded.

I have unlimited data basically, and I'm currently using a free trail of Google music that I signed up for over the summer and it's legit. I am like you and didn't want to pay a monthly subscription for a streaming service, but with the free trail really has me rethinking it. If I can get it for under $10 a month, I may just do it.

Another thing, is how people use over 10gb of data a month

I rarely go over 2GB

^ dudes in the Android thread go thru 50+ gigs a month. I don't understand it either

They must live on their phone. I had T-Mobile $30 plan for a while and it's 5GB a month and I probably went over once and it was hard to do.

I play spotify anytime I drive somewhere. In a normal month I'm pushing 6GB's and sometimes going over.

T-Mobile has this Binge On thing or whatever with music. Basically streaming from Pandora or Spotify doesn't affect your data usage. I stream Spotify heavily and I am on a 3GB LTE plan.
