Y'all better wake up and stop sleeping...

Washington Wizards haven’t had a real closer since Gilbert Arenas, but this season, John Wall has become an elite player in the clutch.

John Wall dribbled above the 3-point line and stepped into a jump shot with confidence against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. His jumper has improved to the point where it’s not surprising when he makes shots from the perimeter.

But now he’s hitting those shots in the fourth quarter with regularity.

Wall, the team’s lone All-Star, didn’t seem to have a skill-set that translated well to fourth quarter scoring.

Most fourth quarter players – like Kevin Durant or Paul George, for instance – can rely on their isolation scoring to put their respective team on their backs.

Wall, a pass-first guard, had an anxious offense in the fourth quarter, often relying on low-percentage fade away jump shots or simply passing to one of his teammates.

Averaging a career-high 23 points, Wall has become one of the NBA’s best fourth quarter scorers this season.

Currently, he’s seventh in total points scored in the fourth with 109 points, according to NBA Miner.

He’s scored more points in the fourth quarter than the aforementioned George, Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler and James Harden.

Wall is also sixth in total shots made in the fourth quarter, leading George, DeMar DeRozan and Damian Lillard.

His shot making in the fourth quarter has elevated the team’s overall play. Washington has won 17 straight games at home and have climbed to the third spot in the Eastern Conference.

The makings of a bona fide star player aren’t concrete, but being able to score when a team needs it most is certainly one of the criterion for judging players.

Against the Pelicans on Saturday, the Wizards had moments where it seemed like their winning streak would finally come to an end. But as he’s done throughout the entire season, Wall carried the team to another win almost single handedly.

Washington’s head coach, Scott Brooks, stopped short of praising Wall for his scoring in the fourth quarter, but went out of his way to mention the guards’ defense, which is something else the rest of the team has picked up on.

Wall’s offense and defense, for that matter, have been at an MVP level this season. It’s been a long time since the Washington Wizards had a real closer – one that can be consistently relied on. Wall, for the first time in his NBA career, has accepted and thrived in that role this season.

"I'm as humble as they come, but my shoe game lit / I ain't make the all-Stars but I'm flu game sick / Last time they count me out, what I do? Game 6 ... "View media item 2323934

This was the best game I've seen in person. I think it was the 1st series win in 14 years for us. Dudes were crying in their seats sitting next to me. Hugging each other, balling their eyes out in joy. Over a 1st round playoff win. It's tough being a blazer :frown:

Too bad the West is stacked in guards. You, me and everyone else in Portland wants to see him in the All-Star game but at the end of the day it doesnt take anything else away from his game.

At least we have 3J in the 3 point contest :pimp:

For those with season tickets, do you attend every game?

Had season tickets for 3 years, biggest waste of money ever.

On average I'd go to 15-20 games a year with the rest being given away

The first season I probably went to 38 of the 41 home games + all the playoff games. The next few Seasons I didn't go to half of the games. I know most people sell those tickets to make their momey back but a lot of the times I just gave tickets away. I agree, I's rather pick a few games to attend each season.

If I lived near the Spurs I would probably try and get season tickets at some point in life.

The next time the Spurs make the finals I will be headed to Texas for sure though.

I used to have the 20-game package which was nice.

I actually tried the half-season package and it was much better. I only live like 9 miles from Staples Center but driving there 40+ times, a lot of times straight from work, is tiring as hell.

Since I've already seen Curry, Harden, Russ, Bron etc multiple times, what I do now is go to thegames vs awful teams. I went to the Nets game this season. $12 tickets in the lowerbowl  we won by like 40.

I also look for games that have up and coming superstars on bad teams. Minny was definitely on my list this year.

Best players I've seen in person were Bron and Wade in Miami and Iverson and Yao in their primes. Also saw J-Kidd, VC, K-Mart and Jefferson on the Nets when they were all really really good.

Yup.

Minny, Denver, NY have been my low key teams to see the past couple years.

I do this a lot as well. Seen the main guys multiple times, so would like to see more of Giannis, KP, KAT, etc. I'm happy I was able to go to last year's playoff series to see Duncan one last time.

- I saw Kobe's 60 point game live in 2007
- Jordan on the Wizards
- Bron on Heat / Bron on Cavs (both stints)
- Kobe/Shaq Lakers
- Yao

A ton of guys/teams. You tend to take it for granted when you're actually there watching

I've never seen Bron [emoji]128531[/emoji]
I also need to see Melo play

my G, you about 4 years too late to see melo play meaningful, competitive ball. at this point, i'd recommend that you collect all your money and unload your life savings to see the future hall of famer John Wall.

as disgusted as I am with his on court acting and all the ***** *** -ness he demonstrated in last year's finals talkin about "i'm a family man" i'd still consider seeing bron in person as a highlight. same game he hit the backbreaking game winner against GSW three years ago. good lord, i remember that sinking, gut wrenching feeling knowing i'd blown $250 just to see us lose on a last second shot.

Bron is great to watch live. I especially liked seeing him brick 2 FTs against the Rockets a couple years ago  Toyota Center was rockin' when that happened.

IT2 was low-key great to see live too

Very first purchase I made after I graduated & got my career going.

Then I found out most of my clients were out of town  complete waste of money. I plan to repurchase later on.
