Harden is top 3 right now, no lower than top 5.
Harden is still the same dude to me. He just got a coach who fits him. Great offensive player and that's it. I still think he's behind Lebron, KD, Russ, Steph, Kawhi.
Outside of LeBron and Durant, you can make an argument he's better than the rest.

Could present day Westbrook, Harden, and KD on OKC beat last years Warriors or Cavs? :nerd:

Nope, Klay and Draymond are though. Steph just running around in circles on the court looking like Kyle Korver and JJ Redick

His usage and attempts are down but he's NOT sacrificing. Ok. Oh and Klay is having almost an identical season to last year.

He not doing the same thing though. Under mchale their was no system. Unless you call give the ball to harden and watch him ISO a system.
He is doing the same thing; the system is different.

So it appears he is doing something different.

He is showing the same exact skillset that he has showed previously is my point

I've dismissed harden but what he's doing and how the team is doing is impressive. Much more impressive then Westbrook for me and a lock for mvp if the Rockets stay where they at for the entire season. Crazy thing is Rockets have blown lots of teams out and harden sits at the end of games because of it and his stats would be even crazier if his team was in close games .

I pay attention to it cause of fantasy.

I mean you can. I wouldn't put him above any of those dudes.

And his #'s are better now right?

Without question. What I'm saying is pringles didn't make him the same way he did Nash or Lin.

He averaged 30 and almost 10 in the last 45 games of the season last year.

I wasn't saying MDA made him. I don't think MDA made Nash either. Lin was a straight fluke. His just system makes Nash and Harden look better. Just last year Harden looked outta control and people was questioning if he's a real #1 option. He still the same. He just has a system that fits his strengths. He's a great offensive player but he we've seen his flaws. MDA's system just covers them up a little.

People slandering harden won't change. They say he was a bal hog he leads the league in assists. He plays better defense now too.

Oh also the argument of Westbrook for mvp dudes are harden has a better team and coach foh the team isn't that much better before the season folks predicted ok to do better and harden got screwed out of an MVP already Steph had the much better team and coach but that doesn't matter cause it's harden.

So what are the fluctuating MVP Requirements for the 16-17 season?

Because based on recent history, I don't see how Westbrook or Harden are serious candidates. (Best player; BEst team Logic)

no one on GS getting it. Lebron ain't getting it, he's coasting. Those the two best teams. Kawhi got a shot but if the standings stay the same and Rockets stay in the 3rd seed I don't see why it would be a problem if harden got it with the season he is having.

Westbrook no, harden yes

Harden is putting up historically great numbers on a +55 win team in all likelihood. Combine that with the story that they're attaching to harden, he's probably the #1 guy in the MVP race .

How different is the NBA if OKC traded Westbrook instead of Harden?

Is Durant still in OKC?

Westbrook isn't winning MVP because I don't believe they'll have a top 4 seed.

As of now, you have to give it to Harden. I'm not sure if they stay hot all season long because there's still 40+ games to be played. If they fall during the 2h of the season, I think it ends up going to somebody like KD or Kawhi based on record. It would suck, but hey, the NBA needs to change their standards.

I think OKC would have won a championship by now. Harden is just an overall better playmaker IMO.

I don't think harden is gonna win MVP no matter what his team or what he does individually. For whatever reason he's not liked enough by the media.

I think Durant still would leave if they traded Westbrook and kept Harden because Harden defense would have cost them games the same way Westbrooks aggressiveness did.

I believe if the Thunder invested money in an real coach the had the respect of the team and rolled the dice and played Westbrook, Durant, and Harden at the same time and got them to believe in their system, I believe that they all 3 could have stayed together and would have probably won a chip.

The Rockets hold the 3 seed and he wins mvp. Westbrook has zero chance. I'm still going with Kawhi.

It's a team award. It's not about "true value" .

Easily. Has nothing to do with who's better between Westbrook and harden. You woulda got a kings ransom for Westbrook at the time. Superstar with 5 years left on his deal, they coulda traded for anyone.
