The term Stacked should also be in comparison to the field.this GSW team won 73 games last year added a top 3 player and they only lost Barnes and bogut no one else but the cavs have a legitimate chance and the cavs beat them last year by the slimmest of margins. I'd say the clippers have a punchers chance s/o to James elseworth

well...

actually...

they lost...

barnes, bogut, ezeli, barbosa and speights

but who's counting? gsw is gonna score 180 points a game shooting 80% from the field. so all that doesn't matter anyway

For those calling OKC a fringe playoff team, they must not post in the predictions thread.

OKC is running 4-5 all over in there, can't recall a list without them on it. Get your predictions in before Tuesday.

Bill Simmons brought up a decent point in the O/U podcast. The Thunder were something like 15-12 without Durant that one year where Russ went off. That extrapolates out to a 45 or 46 win team. There was a huge gap between #4 and #5 last year (53 down to 44) in the west. I think this Thunder team is probably better than that Thunder team, so I could see 45-48 wins. But cracking 50 is going to be tough, and the top four seeds will definitely be over 50 wins, and by a few games. The moment Durant left, I said their ceiling is #5, and their floor is that end of season race for the 6-7-8.

I wonder what everyone who wants to nitpick the warriors flaws and exaggerate the impact of losing guys like barbosa, ezeli, speights when they start getting contributions from guys like McCaw, McGee, etc. I guess they'll move on to the next excuse to explain why they aren't that good.

Let's stop kidding ourselves for a second and just admit the fact that we all know the team is very likely going to be historically good.

You all wouldn't want them to lose so bad if you thought they don't have the likely chance of being dominant.

Still tinkering with my stuff. I believe I have OKC in but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make it.

Dirk was automatic inside of 2 minutes and everyone knew it. That playoff run >>>>>

If Duncan is 4.5, dirk is the best PF ever

Game 1 completely changed thanks to Corey Brewer. Mavs probably win the series anyways, but sometimes I wonder if the Lakers won game 1...

Peja and JET couldn't miss vs the Lakers.

Dirk - 57% FG, 73% 3pt
JET - 58% FG, 68% 3pt
Peja - 51% FG, 52% 3pt

:x :x :x

Honestly, couldn't miss is kind of an understatement.

Never forget.

I don't hear anyone ever say Dirk did it by himself. That was one of the most complete team efforts. That type of roster winning a ring is the exception. Non laker title, that's my. Most Memorable finals. Couldn't call dirk a choker anymore and Im a huge Dirk fan.

Bynum. Dude was the best offensive center in the l [emoji]128546[/emoji]. Sucks he was washed so quickly.

Pat Bev being out 20 games to start the year means we're giving up 120 points a game [emoji]128579[/emoji]

I remember getting into discussions on here with dudes who said exactly that

That Mavs championship run in 11 is still one of the best in NBA history. Dirk was on another level especially against Bron and the heat  :smokin

The finals was his worst series, by far, during that entire run. He laid a ton of bricks in that series. He had several games where his shots & points were damn near the same. Bosh/UD/Bron did an amazing job on him.

Yep, they sacrificed depth for KD, but that depth won't matter for a huge stretch of the season cause people will be struggling to figure out who to even guard

Exactly. Though it was a total team effort and Dirk playing lights out, people were saying he "did it by himself just like Hakeem"

Y'all were giving that up with or without him.

His defense has fallen off a cliff and he won't be any better this year.

Bogut is the only big loss for GSW.

Even then, his health was so suspect that he woulda got injured just trying to keep up with this team.

Nipple head is empty buckets which they won't need.

Barnes is trash.

They have McCaw now who can give you what Barbosa gave you while being younger/better defender.

you are saying that players are gonna max out when they were in lesser situations and did absolutely nothing.

javale mcgee was out of the league. it was a serious desperate reach for gsw to sign him.

so in a ton of opinions, its not nitpicking, its calling it what it is.

folks dont understand how important bogut's skill set was for that team. an elite rim protector that can pass and allow all those shooters to run those splits and back cuts. javale mcghee, zaza, or any other big on that team CANNOT DO THAT. HE HAS NEVER DONE THAT. as tall and athletic as he is, HE HAS NEVER BEEN AN AVERAGE RIM PROTECTOR

but you dismiss it as if its just hate on gsw? come on now...be serious

bout played 67+ regular season games the last 3 years, and every playoff game leading up to the knee injury in this years finals.

that "bogut missing games" thing...its a myth. (at least recently it is)

and barnes is not "trash" he played like trash this playoff season...but nobody complained last year. nobody.

Barnes is trash, you can look back and find people calling him that even before the playoffs because we knew he would get overpaid.

I didn't talk about "games missed" I said injury history. Maybe you don't know this but 7'1 oft injured bigs don't get better as they age.

Keep trying with your narrative though, GSW didn't "lose" anything.

It's going to be a lot of y'all tryna talk yourselves into thinking they aren't going to completely dominate the league.

Actually your Rockets are going to fare well against them too.

If GSW isn't going to hold anybody below 105, any paced up team can win against them.

You are not beating Golden State trying to out gun them  .

The teams you see beat them "most of the time" are great/good defensive teams, which is far from what Houston is. I would expect it to be the same story this year. Some of the offensive teams can catch them during the regular season, but that's not a recipe for success in a playoff series.

I'm ready to see how this is going to play out, though. Any time there's a "definite" championship winner in preseason, it rarely happens. This has been going on since when the '04 Lakers were assembled. The only team that lived up to their expectations in Year 1 of the "super team" was Boston who had a much better collection of depth and defense. I'm not quite sure how good Golden State's defense will be this year. Probably will remain top 10, but not sure if it'll still be in the top 3 as year's past.
