That was the best greatest game of Simmons' life

They'll need his contributions so hopefully for them that wasn't an aberration.

I've been a big believer in

no rim production = no rings.

GSW about to test this.

Yup - but no one will listen
...?

The eye test and the numbers show me that Draymond & Durant are comparable/better rim protectors than Tristan & Bron.

They have enough in that category to get by.

So basically any team with two bigs that's tall and can be productive and someone to make sure Klay have a bad night equals a win. The armor have been broke and the Spurs gave the blueprint for the rest of the league to take notes, time to expose this team.

I don't really think the Warriors have to start worrying about anything based on this game, you don't go 74-9 when you've made a massive change to your starting lineup.  It will take time.

Remember how Miami started?
I wouldn't say "started" is the right word to use here. The Miami team was a brand new team that truly had to learn to play together. The Warriors on the other hand have their championship winning big 3 from the previous several seasons plus arguably their 4th best player in Iguodala as well.

God bless anyone on the east coast who stayed up for that SA/GS game. It ended at what? 1am? Never me

wait...so...gsw didn't score 225pts?

so what if i could rewind before last nights game and tell you that the warriors would have issues with rebounding, defense and turnovers...ehhh whatever. its only one game right?

Last night foreshadowed what will happen when GS plays a legit team. You think these guys are gonna start playing D and crashing the boards all of a sudden?

GS got beat by a better team with a better coach. Can't outscore teams if you struggling to score yourself. Let this team start slightly above .500 and the damn sports media will be talking about it though Christmas :x

No

The Spurs just played the best game they will play all season. Pop had an entire summer to prepare for that matchup and they were hitting everything that they put up. Kawhi looked like damn Michael Jordan, Aldridge looked like the best big in the league, Simmons looked like an All-Star, all of Ginobli and Mills shots were falling. That is not happening for them ever again.

There were some people in here laughing that the Spurs would even be a 50 win team this year and Spurs fans themselves were saying they hope they trade Aldridge because they need to go young since they don't have a chance at beating the Warriors or Cavs. Some of you are so easily influenced by one game.

been saying the same thing you have been saying for weeks now in this thread. but scoring is all that matters here

i 100% agree with what you are saying. collectively, the spurs may not have a better game all season. but, i'm willing to bet that kawhi is the player we've seen last night. i am inclined to believe that simmons will be a key contributor on that team moreso than him just having the game of his life and then nothing.

even if they weren't clicking on all cylinders offensively, they still win that game by 10 because of the rebounding, turnovers and defensive issues w/ gsw IMO

Denial. Warriors lost last night due to the same reason they lost the finals and the same reason they won't win the championship again this year....they're food down low. You can't bang with Lamarcus Aldridge you certainly will not bang with Lebron James. KD out here getting dunked on by Kawhi Leonard.

Yep, congrats on back to back championships Cavs.

And the takes keep coming in.

My lord

What a time we live in man. People projecting 81+ games and the playoffs

Wait so people actually thought the Warriors would dominate this season by adding another prolific shooter and not an actual big :nerd:

GSW still needs to time to actually play competitive basketball together.

They still winning the championship.

lamella

These hot takes are moving like hot cakes. Some of yall really talking like the dubs got worse or dudes like Mo nipple and festus were critical pieces. A week from now this team will be mopping dudes up. The clippers sure didn't forget what they're capable of

Kawhi is a great player and Simmons will be a key contributor but they aren't going out there and both dropping career highs each night. Ginobli isn't going to look like he's 25 and Mills isn't going to hit every shot he puts up. The Warriors need a little time to gel still and they ran into an experienced team that's been together with the best coach in the league that had a whole summer to game plan for that one matchup on opening night.

Kawhi will have 30 more nights that not this season.

Like I said yesterday morning, he's going for MVP.
