These Vegas odds on the MVP are silly. Who really thinks Russell Westbrook has a chance to win MVP? The team will not win enough games.

how many games is not enough games?

i honestly think OKC is a 42 win team as presently constructed. enough wins? maybe not...but OKC is a better TEAM than alot of folks are expecting...i mean...realistically...there are only 3 teams that are obviously better than them (LAC,SAS,gsw) every other team is debatable.

if OKC fools around and wins just 8 more games than i predict, and RW tears it up as expected, i could see him winning MVP.

i'm looking for 30/9/9 out of RW this year

by far, a worse OKC team in a better version of the west 2 years ago missed the playoffs w/ 45 wins. KD only played 27 games, ibaka missed 18 games. steven adams was nowhere near the player he is right now and there was nobody else on that team worth mentioning other than Kanter.

in direct comparison, that same 45 win record in the next season? good enough for a 5th seed. it was a 9th place finish in 14-15

and, i'm not a big westbrook fan. i really like his physical abilities, but his approach to the game has been/continues to be all wrong. he's the primary reason durant bolted for gsw.

his approach will work much better now that he is the clear cut top dogg in okc.

IMO

I want to see Westbrook win the award but MVP is a sexy award right now, has nothing to do with Most Valuable anything.

That award is going to KD so long as he keeps talking to the media.

No top 3 seed, no MVP. It hasnt happened and I dont think it ever will.

Well the reason Westbrook or Harden has a shot on a 45 win team is 1. They put yo dumb stats. Leading league in points and assists type. 2. Curry/KD split votes. Lebron only plays 70 games to rest, the cavs don't get the 1 seed like 2 years ago. Then it really opens up.

not sure what stats are dumb? westbrook has approached or exceeded those number during several games last year.

and all your reasons are 100% correct.

For Westbrook and Harden to have a chance, LeBron, Kawhi, Paul, Griffin, and for arguments sake Curry and Durant would have to be ruled out. Not seeing it.

If Spurs get a top 3 seed, Kawhi is winning MVP and deservedly so.

I think we see an even bigger step forward from him.

25/8/4 on 50% shooting with his usual all world defense.

He's the unquestioned leader of the team now, he's said it and Pop has.

With his drive + the system + supporting cast, I don't see how he doesn't level up again this year and enter himself into conversation of best player in the world.

10-1 odds on him winning the award and imo I don't see any scenario where he doesn't win.

My only other realistic pick is LeBron. He plays 70 games does typical LeBron things plus the carryover from the NBA Finals win and the fact that the "LeBron is declining talk" was silenced can easily get him there.

I meant dumb in a good way. Like Westbrook averaging a triple double or Harden leading the league in score and assists.

I don't think Bron cares enough about the regular season to really go for MVP anymore.

As soon as the Cavs wrap up the East which shouldn't take all that long, I see him gearing up for that Finals run.

Kawhi will have to play at his highest level all year for the Spurs to be a for sure 3 seed, he's in his athletic prime right now too.

I feel you, more I think about it, I just don't see how he doesn't win barring injury.

If he wins MVP and DPOY as a wing player though. :x
