Dwight is the only player since the merger with 10 seasons of 12+ boards a night, several of those campaigns were accompanied with 20+ ppg, virtually all the teams were elite defensively directly because of him.

He's not a HOF'r, though.

It's easy to dominate defensively in a era where LeBron at 6-8 or Draymond can play center. Who are the other legit bigs in his era that he dogged?

Wall has never made an All-NBA team. Never been past the 2nd round. Never developed a reliable 3 ball. Trash player.

Boston won't make it past him in the playoffs though. We don't have the same screen name but bet yours too.

Wall is 26 years old BTW.

I was talking about tmac and penny. But yeah Dwight Howard, Tracy Mcgrady, and Penny Hardaway are not hofers. Of the players you mentioned as "the magic had all these great players and never won a chip how is that possible?!!" Shaq was the only "great" one. You really mentioned Steve Francis as great?

It's quotes like this that make's this thread the laughing stock of S&T.

prime dwight would still be the best center in the league today

I'm not so sure about that. Modern NBA game requires constant movement, and ability to move out to perimeter on offense. You also need to be a strong PnR player and defend it just as well.

Best example was his years in LA. Sure, he was injured and never got into any rhythm, but that system was built on many principles the modern NBA uses today.

Boggie would have him beat.

Someone give me a list of great NBA bigs. I bet nobody would build around Howard in hindsight. Nobody.

You could build around AI, Chuck or Nash. I'd build around them before Howard or the forever injured T-Mac and Penny.
Who cares. Whether this is true or not, This has nothing to do with the fact that he's still an 8 time all nba player and a 3x dpoy. That is a HoF basketball player man. Period.

Draymond was coming off the bench up until 2 years ago. Dwight was already 10 years in by that point, had multiple 13-14 rebound seasons several years before that when D'Antoni was the only guy successfully playing small-ball.

All Star is a popularity contest. How is that even a sign of being a HOF? Kyrie will start in the ASG. What does that mean? He's one of the two best PGs in the NBA? Hell no.

I don't think people realize the magnitude of being selected 1st team All-NBA. There's only 5 open spots available out of the 450+ players in the league

On top of that, he's won defensive player of the year 3 other times (most of which coincided with 1st All-NBA selection).

Would you build a team around Mitch Richmond?

*Even w/ his rings, Shaq underrachieved. Dude didn't take basketball that seriously. This is part of the reason why Kobe hated him.

@The Collector's next argument is going to be "Those are media awards. Don't mean anything"

For **** and Giggles...do you want to know what type of numbers and accomplishments Dwight Howard had at 26?

Don't play THIS game man. You're basing everything on a narrative. Dwight Howard is easily a hall of famer....and one of the best defensive players of the modern era.

I mean, the ***** averages

18/13/2 for his career

Has been to the conference finals 3x (as recently as 2015)

Is an 8X All star (Should be one this year)
8X All NBA (5 time first team)
3X DPOY (in a row)
8X All defensive team
Led is team to the finals as a #1 option

You can hate Dwight Howard all you want. But he's had a hell of a career.

THAT isn't what makes someone a HOF talent though
