it's disappointing. it's supposed to be a showcase for the fans.

my pickup games are more competitive and more well-played than the ASG.

how about option 3: force every contract to have an ASG clause. if selected, you must play. 10% of your salary is dependent on your performance in the ASG. there will be a panel of judges who will rate you based on effort, including paying D, hustling after loose balls, moving on offense without the ball, etc.

of course this would never happen but it's sad that these are actual solutions we're restoring to.

This is stupid imo. Its an all star game not the damn finals  10% gimmie a break.
which is kind of the point. they wouldn't get motivated for less.

my other idea was for each division to form a team of 5, then have a pickup-rules tournament. winning division gets 1 extra team into the playoffs.

or how about this: how about these players have some damn self-respect and stop being *******, worrying about injuries and such, and instead start playing some decent ball?

Agreed, if they were to do anything I'd say just add some sort of incentives for the teams.

Cause you couldn't really say whoever wins gets home court advantage in the playoffs/finals since that's determined by the team with a better regular season record. If it wasn't determined by the regular season record, I'd say that's how they'd motivate the players to actually PLAY if that's what you're upset/complaining about.

Top 7 Giannis

God took his time on Giannis.

Just doesn't make sense.

Him/KAT/Jokic/Embiid just blow my mind at their talent being so young.

League is in such great hands, we got superstars in their primes doing historical things, young guys in the wings on historical pace.

Not to mention in 5 years the biggest stars in the league will be a guy from Greece of Nigerian blood, a guy from Serbia, a guy from Cameroon and a Dominican from NJ.

The game transcends borders and is only growing.

Best professional sport in the world and its not even close.

Sorta hoping the Pelicans never pass the Kings in the Western Conference standings.

if you're on a team with close to no chance of making the playoffs but you're in the ASG, home court advantage in the finals is not an incentive

Game of the Year, in my opinion. 8)

You know Lebron wanted this W with Mayweather n Belichick on the sidelines

 Oh yeah for sure

It's crazy how there's only a two game difference from the 4-8 seed in the West. If Russell and the gang can move up tot he 4 seed, i dont see how he doesn't get the 2017 MVP award.

Alvin Gentry is gone by the end of this month, if not off season. I don't care if your off the street, or a hall of fame coach. There's no way you go 0-4 with Jrue, Boogie & AD on the same team.

Exactly.

Better just make it money but even then it's going to be have to be a significant amount since most All Stars are making so much, the younger guys will definitely go hard.

Give like 2 million to the MVP and 500k to each playing on the winning team.

Make Samsung pay, put ads on the jerseys.

If NBA wants some even better PR (not that it needs it), they'd have the players in the ASG compete on behalf of a charity they personally select. If they play for the winning team, that charity receives a larger donation

This new generation has to get incentives to play hard. What ever happened to the love of the game, they already getting more money and notoriety than ever. SAD!

People act like the asg been ultra competitive and just started being like this.. Sounds like people that say back in my day I walked uphill to and back from school

With how much organized basketball some of these cats have been playing year round for a majority of their lives, i don't blame them for taking an exhibition game lightly. You add that to the fact that for many of them, this isn't their first or second ASG, I'm willing to bet the excitement of the game is somewhat lost on them

we all saw how curry choked when he had to shoot for charity.

In general the 1st 3 quarters are laisse faire, and it gets competitive in the 4th. See the video posted a page ago. These last couple years those have been a disgrace.

 basically the ASG has started to look like that lamelo ball 90+ point game

Not gonna lie though, i wanted to see a team crack 200 just because

Exactly that was 30 years ago not 5. Society been pussified since then big time.

You don't have to even go that far back. 2015 and 2014 were competitive down the stretch. I have no idea what the hell the last 2 games were literally no dambs are being given.

Lmao I'm not trynna say there needs to be incentives to play, but honestly. Who cares this much about the asg and how competitive it should be? It shouldn't be this big of a deal
