**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Could of sworn Clarkson was much better at Driving the lane, confused why he keep settling for jump shots

WHY DID WE KEEP WORLD PEACE

WHY IS HE IN THE GAME

WHY IS HE TAKING UP VALUABLE TOUCHES

WHYYYYYYYYY

Typical Randle. Takes ball down the court drives to basket and loses the ball before even getting a shot up.

Dude tries so hard to be a point forward and thinks he has handles :rolleyes :smh:

Love what i saw from dlo and ingram...ingram coming along quicker than i thought

Nick young had a great game. As did Brandon Ingram.
Clarkson was terrible. Russell was very careless with the ball, 7 turnovers def hurt. Please get rid of Yi and Metta ASAP.

Oh and Randle is trash. He looks like he just started playing basketball for the first time in his life like last month.

Ingram's best pre season game so far

Great game from Brandon. Really like him bringing the ball up and running the offense.

Russ is still way too careless at this point. He'll learn how to lock in game to game.

Lots of encouraging signs. Team showed a cohesive competitivness. Russell is still trying to get comfortable balancing between attacking for himself and creating for teammates, a lot of the TOs I feel like were him forcing the action trying to do the right thing instead of playing instinctively. Also needs to stop being careless like others have mentioned. But it's already night and day compared to last year where he was timid and the thing that bugged me the most was where he was often cruising and jogging upright up the court.. He's pretty much fixed that so far this year in preseason. Ingram finally came into his own, being aggressive driving to the cup on several occassions, and he finally knocked down his open 3s. He'll be scary good soon. Not going to get too down on Randle but he needs to show a lot of improvement across the board. Grabbing the rebound and pushing in the open court is a plus but he can't dribble in traffic at this point. Awareness of where his teammates are in the half court is severely lacking, jumpshot is still below average but at least improved from last year.

It's a stuggle but the team is 100x more watchable than the last 2 years. Ingram was hooping in the 4th. Impressive ****.

Anonymous scout on the Lakers:
"They’ll be the worst team in the West and bottom-three overall with Brooklyn and Philadelphia. … The best-case scenario for them is that Russell becomes a high-level starter, Ingram is in the Rookie of the Year mix, and they get a clear sense for how Randle fits into their long-term plans. All of those things could happen and they still might not win 25 games. … Keeping their pick again would be huge for turning this around into a playoff team again. … From a style perspective, the Lakers should change more than any other team with Kobe retiring and Walton taking over for Scott. They’ll play fast, move the ball, take more threes, less isolation plays and a lot more opportunity for their young prospects. … Russell is their most important player. The style shift will work if he makes it work and it will fail if he’s not quite ready. I think he’s ready for a breakout. He is an electric player when he’s playing well: he can score, shoot and set others up. He has the talent and confidence to be an All-Star, but that’s a long way off. He’s like a redshirt freshman because Bryant dominated everything. … Clarkson is only a starter if you’re a lottery team. He’s a one-trick pony scorer. He has blinders on and isn’t much of a passer. He’ll take bad shots. Playing him and Russell together defensively is a mess. … I’m not a Randle fan so I would just start Ingram and Deng together and see what happens. Throw Ingram into the fire. He’s the No. 2 pick. Why baby him? … The Kevin Durant comparisons are unfair to Ingram and I would have taken both Ben Simmons and Kris Dunn over Ingram. He will float a lot this year, his lack of strength will hurt him, and he needs to tighten up his handle. … Maybe Walton sees Randle as a Draymond Green type. He can dribble but can he make the reads? Randle definitely plays hard, which is a skill, but otherwise there’s a lot of work to do. He can’t really shoot it and he’s not the best finisher. He’s easy to guard. … Randle looks like a sixth man to me. … I love Deng. He’s really good. They should make Deng a stretch four role and clear things out for Ingram. Down the road, maybe they can trade him to a playoff team or shift him into a reserve role. He might only spend half of his contract with them. … Mozgov wasn’t the best center out there but beggars can’t be choosers. I think the Lakers saw him as attainable and an upgrade over Hibbert so they rushed to pay him. They had a huge hole. Going from Kareem and Shaq to Mozgov is the type of thing that will make Lakers fans roll their eyes. … Even with Mozgov and Deng, they’ll be the worst defensive team in the league."

Randle still looks like the same player....

I liked what I saw from Ingram last night. He looks to be a lot more comfortable out there, and it was nice seeing him bring the ball up to initiate the offense.

Of course Nick plays well during the last year of his contract

Randle is a work in progress. He's going to be up and down. Not really playing any worse (relatively) than Russ, Clarkson or Nance who have all been up and down this preseason

Good read. I think if all the best case scenarios listed in that report happen it would be a successful season IMHO. (Even if we only cap out at 25 wins)

Key takeaway is growth and Clarity on each one of our youngins.
