Didn't say he wouldn't improve but he kinda is what he is at this point. A 23 year old guard who can't shoot. He was supposed to be a supreme level athlete and dominate the game like that, but as we can see, that's not happening.

There is no room for guards in this league that can't shoot. I highly doubt Dunn is in the NBA for much longer unless he figures out a shot soon.

First Mudiay failed.
Then Dunn failed.

It's almost like being a young NBA guard is extremely difficult.

Man can't get minutes over Rubio or T. jones and professional NBA analysts wanted us to trade Dlo for him.

This is why you can't put that much stock in what former players say. Dude really wanted to trade Dlo for Dunn and was serious about it. Then you hear Jalen with the "he'll never be a leader" comment. Dumb *****.

I feel like age in general is overrated in the NBA, except for the 19-22 years. I feel like that's prime/major development years.

Not too many players become significantly better than they were at 23/24, you kinda are who you are at that point.

I guess Jimmy Butler lol.

Dudes already don't like him but let Dlo avg 3 points. laugh.gif
post #15755 of 17480
And a lot of times former players and analysts are right, so what does all this mean? Who cares

Dlo is clearly a better player than Dunn right now, there's no debating that

Just pointing out hypocrisy of saying let Dlo develop but Dunn is a finished product

Gotta put stuff in perspective.

It's not hypocritical tho.

One is 21.
The other is 23.

One is a physical, athletic beast who can drive past everyone but can't get off the bench.

The other is the slow, lazy bust who just dropped 40 smile.gif

Why not compare Dlo to elite PGs at age 21? How bout Westbrook?

Why pick Dunn? Set the bar higher for your favorite player
post #15761 of 17480

Raw numbers, advanced, and Per 36 of Russ and D'Lo at age 21 is actually kind of interesting lol

We can do that and the numbers would all compare favorably for Dlo. If u really want me to I can do it for but it still wouldn't change your opinion.
That's why it's called an opinion
Stop trying to change me, you're not my wife laugh.gif
if Dlo's so great he'll be in LA a long time and he'll change my mind

I worked on this last year, but updated it right now & added the sophomore seasons.

A lot of information in here, but I'll withhold my comments for now.

Actually, I want to add one comment:

1&done: Dlo, Kyrie & Conley
2 years: Paul, Harden, Westbrook, Wall
3 years: Curry
4 years: Nash

Edited to include minutes per game

I'm blocking everyone that references per 36 from now on.

Lemme ask you a question, because Harden doesn't give 100% effort like Pat Beverley does on every defensive possession, does he lack intangibles? Does he lack heart and hustle?

If you're saying you think Dlo's lazy and doesn't work off the court. How the **** would you know? He doesn't post **** on social media. Coaches say he shoots before and after practice. How do you know how much time is put in the weight room and in the gym?

If you're saying he's lazy on the court and looks like he gives up at times, yeah, I can agree with that. He has some bad habits, but I think that's stuff that can be fixed with time and a winning team/environment.

I hear what you're saying. It's two different realms but certain things translate.

You play how you practice. If your taking plays off in games, your probably doing it in practice.

Once you hit a certain talent lvl it doesn't matter if you do. Harden is a great example of that. I will give you that for sure.

My take away point is that intangibles do matter.

I feel you. I just don't think its fair to assess Dlo's practice habits. I do agree he gives off the standoffish/doesn't care vibe, but he's been consistently getting praise from coaches all year for staying extra, shooting, etc. I don't think it is fair for us as fans to speculate on how hard he works when we have no idea.

One thing I will say, is it looks like he doesn't have that dog in him. He doesn't have that dive on the floor for a lose ball, run into the crowd hustle gene. I'd prefer all my players to be wired that way, but I don't think Dlo is. I've seen him hustle and go after lose balls on occasion, but he's not the type to constantly throw his body around with no regard. I'm talking that constant motor like Kawhi, Westbrook, Pat Beverley, Draymond, etc. That go the extra mile trait.

Maybe it'll improve as he gets stronger, more athletic & when he starts playing in high-stake games & not lottery standing games.
It's not the end of the world. But that's why we need Josh Jackson nerd.giflaugh.gif

Did it for you without using PER 36..... PPG / PER / MPG

2nd season of a bunch of the elite PGs around. Lottery Guards.. And non-lottery guys who ended up being better than where they were drafted

And in fun things.... In the 23 games of 30-39 minutes (doesn't include the 40 point game on Sunday).... 32 mpg 19.3/4.6/5.9, on pretty much the same efficiency as Brandon Roy

incorrect

ive been here since the beginning of niketalk december 9th

ever since we had a sports section kobe was hated on

and that was before he accomplished anything

i believe 99-2000 was the year kobe was coming into his own

but kobe was hated since he came in the league because the league was hyping him as the next michael jordan and fans werent having it especially since he hadnt shown anything his rookie year

people need to be more patient with these young guys man

While he could pick up his energy on the court, I've seen him support his teammates plenty on the bench this season.
