**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Who's clock are we talking about?
YOURS??? Hahahaha

Duh.

I wonder how most of y'all stress levels are with stocks, bonds, & investments. Yeeeesh lmao

Who's stressed, the people that don't think D'Lo is a star in waiting, or the ones who are writing essays defending his "elite" status and all the greatness we've seen from him so far? [emoji]129300[/emoji]

Maaaan we've seen essays from both sides stop it g lmao. It's literally the same thing eeeeeveryday. From BOTH sides.

I'd be more inclined to take your and other peoples views seriously if objectivity came with the criticism but it doesn't. That's cool tho. We all just shootin the ****

I mean I been critical of the boy. But it can only go so far.
But this is a Lakers thread not a DLo thread. I'd be more inclined to talk about the Lakers and not DLo everyday lmao. But carry on. We will be back talking about the same thing like there aren't 14 other players on the roster.

We all remember. You can't MIB it away.

Find where I put him on the clock after summer league. Did I hate the pick? Yes. Did I call him a bust early on? Yes. Do I at this very moment believe he's not going to be a star and is playing out of position? Absolutely. Did I put him #ontheclock before yesterday since we can't critique him at such a tender age? I think not, but y'all love pulling receipts so please do so.

You def feelin some typea way, but I truly don't know why.

Who in here says he is Elite? I know I haven't said it, has someone else? I assume the essays are referrin to E, but I don't think he has said the kid is elite, least I don't think so. None of the others have, so who is claiming the kid is elite?

Anyhoo, I'm not pullin receipts or anything like that, I'm sayin your (imaginary) clock was on the kid from game 1 of Summer League. You been pissed at him since. You had your heart set on Oak. Nothin wrong with that. You've bumped it up to age 23, I'm good with that. I go 25, but 23 is perfectly fine. But that doesn't erase the fact you been targeting the kid from go. Sorry, it doesn't.

In the end, if we luck into some lottery gold again, we'll get another piece to add to the mix of young talent we've assembled then we just let Luke coach them all up, and let the cream rise to the top. I don't care if DLo is the #1, #2, #6 player on the team, long as he helps us turn the corner and can play the game and fit in with the core, whas the problem?

Thankfully next year everyone will forget DLo and move on to crucifying Ingram. That'll be fun.

Elite floor vision, Elite passer, Elite in navigation of the P&R on just a few posts up. He ain't elite at nothing yet, he's an above average spot up shooter and that's it.

Targeting the kid just cause I don't believe he's going to be a star? Well excuuuuuuse me.

Eh, well those are attributes man, you can be elite in an attribute and not be an elite player. I thought you were sayin elite overall, my bad if that's not the case. I would at least go with elite vision, kid makes passes no one else sees yet all the time. (Which is causing some of his teammates to turn the ball over, sadly) As they grow, they'll start recognizing the openings quicker.

Just an above average spot up shooter? Thas it? Nothin else?

Lebron has elite vision, Magic had elite vision, CP0 has elite vision, Nash has elite vision. This kid right now no. What else does he do at an above average level at this juncture?

Stop.

For a 2nd year player he has great court vision.

Maybe I'm drawing a major blank but has there been any PG's better than Hollywood in the last 2 or 3 drafts?

Nah you stop. Elite is the best of the best, he does not have that, otherwise so many of his passes wouldn't be made without purpose and lazily. And it's not all just his teammates not being ready he makes quite a few bone headed decisions for even attempting passes.

I dunno what to tell ya, he had elite vision in his one year of college, it's how he got noticed in this very thread that year. Remember P posting all those weekly vids of the freshman and DLo was diming every one of them.

I'd say as an outside shooter
Post up Guard
Vision
Handles

Those 4 things are above average, imo. You disagree with the vision part, and don't agree with his post up game, or handles even?

The rare fancy pass. Kobe did quite a few of those too in his day. Guess he had elite vision as well. Jokic has elite vision as well too I guess.

We'll being a spot up shooter is where he's been most effective and I think I said that earlier anyway. But I distinctly remember folks touting how elite a shooter he was in college, just haven't seen it materialize to this point he's just under 40% right this season. His best percentage is coming from corner 3s which is the easiest long distance shot on the court.

He doesn't use a post up game enough to say whether he's above average or not. Maybe when he starts going to it as a go to move that'll change.

His handles are ok. If they were above average I think he'd be able to use them to beat people off the dribble more and not almost exclusively rely on screens. So no I haven't seen above average handles from him either.

i mean, his teammates did him a disservice by missing the shots or fumblling away the passes.

does that not happen with d'lo?

I already acknowledged it did. But that's not every single case. There are plays he tries that he has no business making cause they aren't there and/or he does it haphazardly. That's what makes elite passers with elite vision elite. It's not only about having an ability to see the play before the play happens but also being able to diagnose everyone on the floor and see when and when not to take risks. He's still got a ways to go in that regard. He could very well get there, but I just think he'd be better served being a secondary ball handler where he can actually spot up, be allowed to work in the post more etc. Where his limitations physically won't be as apparent going against all these other PGs most nights. And that's just on the offensive side, not taking into account his defense.

None of this matters

If we had Boogie, Butler and Paul George we would still lose to the warriors every year

If we keep our core and they become great, it'll coincide perfectly with the end of the warriors run (5 years from now)

That's an argument for tanking, get as many young players that can possibly become elite in 5+ years

Well said.

The team could use another ball handler. But that player could very well be Ingram and/or Randle.
