**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Tonight is game #5 of the DLo consistency watch.

Minutes have increased steadily from 31 to 33 to 35. Maybe the knees are getting stronger, maybe Luke is having more and more confidence in him, maybe it's a combination of both.

DLo's averages in the last 4:  20.8 ppg, 4.8 apg, 4.0 rpg, 1.5 spg, .413 FG%, .382 3-pt FG%, .857 FT%

Lakers' W-L record in last 4:  1-3

Hollywood slowly starting to earn his nickname as he keeps up the consistency.

We'll take it for now but it's not the long term solution if we expect to contend for a championship in the near future (aka 3-5 years).

It's for the same reason that although we loved Van Exel and knew he was legit, at the same time we knew he wasn't elite and wasn't gonna be the one to lead us to titles

Foreal somebody go make a Love/Hate DLo thread if you wanna continue this. It's been like this for weeks now. It's disgusting.

you think anyone in the west is going to Finals other than the dubs in the next 3-5 years? lol

SA? LAC? UTA? HOU? MIN? nobody will beat them in 7 games

we just need to put a team together than gets good playoff experience in each round so when the dubs are on the downturn, we can swoop in.

the dubs will have a solid 4-5 year run like MIA did when they got Lebron

EDIT: sad news, Ryan Kelly waived by Hawks. Never forget his game in Boston #legend

oh man, I swear a lot of you guys will have some humble pie and crow steaks when Dlo is traded before his rookie deal is up

But what if he isn't traded? :nerd:

you just had to quote me before I edited, didn't you LOL
I had that sentence in my reply box for a few days and never posted it

who knows if he'll get traded, but I don't believe the Lakers think he's the long term solution at PG

my point is, we're not going to win a title in 3-5 year regardless of who we acquire because of the Warriors. Getting one or 2 pieces here and there won't do it.

The Spurs won't even sniff the finals and they have Kawhi and LMA.

It's shortsighted to think the Warriors will win the West for the next 5 years in a row. Just because LeBron is in the Finals every year doesn't mean the Warriors will do the same. The West has much better playoff teams than the East.

I am willing to put money down that the Warriors will NOT make it to the Finals every year for the next 5 years.

Why does Ingram get so much leeway from certain Laker fans, yet D'Angelo who has clearly shown more, is enemy number 1.

One could even argue, Ingram has been one of the worst players this season based on the amount of minutes he's gotten. There's multiple statistics to show this as well. He literally can have one play where his potential shines through and there's grown men on their knees talking about HE'S THE ONE. Yet the rest of the game he plays terribly. On the other hand Dlo can flash the same potential in the same game, but certain Laker fans (not just on NT) won't give the guy credit and will focus on a turnover he had instead.

The double standard in patience is hilarious.

Just admit your dislike of his personality (the irony, when these same people were sucking Kobe off for years) and not getting the guy you wanted in 2015 clouds what you're seeing. Add in the fact that people don't want to be wrong about their opinions/can't accept their opinions were wrong and this double standard is created.

All of our young guys have shown flashes of excellence. They've also shown flashes of being young that's part of this process.

Finally if you guys can't see how much better this team is with Russell on the court I don't know what to tell you. You're definitely watching something else. A lot of the better play this season hasn't translated to wins (expected out of a young team), but this team has been in most of the games they've played.

Oh and one last note. I don't even blame this whiplash guy. I blame people who respond to the foolishness. Looking at you E. Wasting your time as well as everyone's thumb energy, being reasonable and writing essays with evidence.

Just ignore it.

I know I'm gonna regret this.......

Anyone remember how in a hurry the Thunder were to get rid of James Harden?

They traded him at the age of 22.

His 3 years with the Thunder, age 20-22, he put up 13/3/2.5 in 27 minutes a night.

How's that worked out for the Thunder?

*Note, this does not mean DLo is Harden. This is an example of why you do not give up on kids 1-2-3-4 years in. James grew. So will DLo. (In his own way, not like Harden)

for me, I didn't like Dlo from day one because of the slow trot he does up and down the court. The I'm too cool to hustle way to play.

I admit, it's wrong to judge him on that, but that always rubbed me the wrong way about him

We drafted him #2 and he was touted as the next superstar in the post-Kobe era. So I took the bait and expected a lot from him on day one, again that was wrong and too much to put on his shoulders. But at the very least, I wanted hustle and effort.

So that bothered me.

Then as I watched more and more, I couldn't help but notice the flaws in his game. Obviously he's so young a lot of it will be developed, ie. post moves, footwork, less turnovers

BUT, the fact that he's really slow and can't get by defenders is a glaring weakness. PGs nowadays (Wall, Kyrie, Russ, Lillard, etc) put the defense on its heels and keep attacking. Dlo is not that type of player, so that bothers me that we drafted a slow PG for today's game.

I expected he'd come into the league like some of the other young PGs who attack the basket. I've yet to see Dlo go to the rim and jump off 2 feet into a defender. In a weird way, it's like he's scared of contact of going in the paint hard.

I demanded and expected much more. Granted he'll become better than what he is at this very moment, but in my opinion his defense and quickness will not improve much more.
