**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Look, if DLo puts up the numbers he did tonight against Wall on Thursday, I will be the first mfr here to be impressed.
But if he ends up with a line like 9 and 5 on Thursday, I swear......

First time seeing Zubac play, pretty much Mozgov but younger and 44 million cheaper. And I already think better athletically

came in the 4th and changed the game made his shots.

Gallo hit Nance with the Italian shammgodd thoo.

17 wins with 30 games to spare.

Again, I hate to beat a dead horse but if D'Lo is on the clock then...I mean he looks realllyyyy far away from being a good, rotation player right now.

On the other hand, just from what i've seen this season, y'all got one in Zubac. He's already doing **** that he shouldn't be doing. He catches some tough pocket passes in traffic, he's making little passes in traffic, and he has unreal touch around the rim. I like him a lot. Golden Hands.

D'Lo :pimp:

Yeah man I agree. His hands and footwork are amazing at his age, his offensive game in general is realllly advanced. Honestly he's not that bad on defense either. He has good iq and can challenge vertically. Once he puts on some strength/explosiveness, he'll be blocking a lot more shots and just be better overall. Very excited for his growth. Feels like the lakers have their own version of JOKIC.

I'm fine with keeping Moz... Just have to keep him focused, and staying in the swing of things... If we can get every other game to be like we got tonight, it'd be a great investment.. Also like what he can do teaching Zu how to be effective without athleticism. Also helping him develop a decent mid-range shot would be beneficial. Finally, the non-American connection on how to adjust to US & NBA would be helpful

Deng on the other hand? No thanks.

Attach Lou & Tarik to him

Teams we need to start talking to about trades...

Timberwolves
Magic
Kings
Knicks
Pistons
Nuggets
Hornets
Thunder
Wizards
Raptors
Blazers

Hornets would likely be most desperate, and have plenty of decent contracts to take back.
Raptors have their 1st & Clippers 1st.
Blazers have their 1st & Cavs 1st.

Good call

View media item 2318570He really could've had 15 + dimes too
114 games til he finally got double digit assists, kyrie only has like 7-10 double assist games iirc
Not saying he's kyrie, but just saying

Oh and RIP to the greatest owner in sports history

What? Kyrie has 29 games of double digit assists in his career including 8 this season.

Zubac gunna finish higher in all NBA rookie voting than BI at this rate

Legitimately want us to call the Hornets and get them Lou & Luol....Throw in TRob & Huertas to make roster sizes match

Hornets Get: Lou Will, Luol Deng, Thomas Robinson, Marcelo Huertas, 2017 2nd (If it doesn't go to the Magic), 2018 Denver 2nd, 2020 Lakers Conditional 2nd (40-50 protected)
Lakers Get: Spencer Hawes, Roy Hibbert, Ramon Sessions, Marco Belinelli, 2017 Hornets 1st Round Pick (Top 16 Protected) (Would be Top 15 protected in 2018)

Hornets are kind of a maxed out team cap wise with Kemba, MKG, Batum, Tyler Zeller & Marvin Williams..... Would at most have $15mil in cap, that isn't going to get you much better than Lou OR Luol in the offseason... They'd likely end up signing 1 year rentals like Roy Hibbert & Ramon Sessions, and keep doing that until they unloaded Zeller or Marvin.

Hornets currently in the 8th seed, 5.5 GB of HCA in the first round... Not really infeasible for them to get it, especially when a bad last 10 games is why they have fallen to 8th. Also it's better for them to get to a 4th or 5th seed, where I believe they'd have a better chance against Washington & Atlanta to move into the 2nd round.

Lakers would clear $5mil in cap space (That's if you don't Decline Sessions' Team Option (You Would) and Hawes stays with his Player option (Probably wouldn't, if you don't play him))

If both of them are gone, the Lakers clear $18mil or so in cap space. ( Belinelli & Tarik would be good trade pieces to get some, if not all of the 2nd rounders back that we traded to Charlotte. That opens up another $13.2mil )

So, if you let Sessions go, Hawes leaves, and you can trade Belinelli & Tarik Black for a 2nd rounder, we would have up $50 million in cap space, would be around $43mil if we keep our pick + Hornets pick (Including Swaggy's player option / cap hold)

With that you can make a serious run at Gordon Hayward & Nerlens Noel, If you strike out on both, you fill it by overpaying on 1 year rentals for guys that fit a need (Backup PG, SG, 3&D, 5th Big) and you would be relying on all of our young guys... Then come back in 2018 and make a new run at Cousins & PG.
