**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

BI can do everything on the court, he needs to put it all together and obviously get strong.

Dlo has severe limitations that we've all talked about (slow, walks the ball up, can't drive, not athletic, etc)

The biggest thing is Dlo talks the talk but doesn't back it up. ice in my veins, I'm the leader, "this my **** ". So naturally he gets more of the heat

Also, Dlo has the ball in his hands as a PG, he can literally call for a pick and go to work whenever he wants, but he can't

DLo, Jackson, Ingram, Nance, Zubac lineup. :nerd:

Clarkson/Randle runnin the 2nd unit.

I could get down with that.

If Randle is going to the 2nd unit...shouldn't we look at moving him?

How many years does he have left with out before free agency?

I was just using a hypothetical lineup. The athleticism of Nance paired with Ingram, Jackson, Zu and the length of DLo.

Randle could still be the starter, but swapping he and Nance helps them both. Nance doesn't need the ball, JR does.

Let's just get Jackson and let it all sort out organically.

stop comparing what numbers from his current age (NOW) to thinking what he will be....if that was the case then michael carter williams should be great, tyreke evans great, christian laettner 18.2 points and 8.7 rebounds, AL Thornton All NBA rookie first team, landry fields 9 & 7, OJ Mayo 18.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists, Adam Morrison 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists

WE DONT BELIEVE YOU DSLOW!!!

You don't have to think Dlo is a superstar but how many guards under 24 would you prefer?

I'll give you Giannis, LaVine, Beal & Booker. Who else you got? Since y'all wanna trade him so badly there must be at least a good number of young guards better than him.

It's a fair question. I don't want him traded unless we're assured of keeping our pick and drafting a PG.

My thing is, in today's NBA, you need a dynamic PG to be an elite team and Dlo will never be that (in my opinion) because I don't see the requisite skills. Talk about development all you want, but you don't develop an agressive mentality, you don't develop a desire to attack a defense, you don't develop quickness and jumping ability.

Sure he'll improve his post game, get stronger and improve decision-making and his 3 ball. But so what? If you're not excited and enthusiastic and energetic as a 20 year old, to go out and show and prove every night, then you're not the player to lead my favorite team for 10 years.

I want an elite player at that position not an average one. We need a PG who can compromise a defense by attacking and penetrating to draw fouls, finish at the rim, open up the offense for shooters.

You just described Westbrook and Wall. Those are literally the only points who meet your criteria

You'll never be satisifed, those players aren't easy to find.

Kyle Lowry was a barely average PG for a few years... Then an okay starter for a couple.. Then all of a sudden an all star.... To say he can never be really good, is ignoring the many guys who took a long time to get things going.

Russell is still making company with many very good PGs in their early years, all while being screwed minutes wise (Which is an inarguable fact)

He's doing what a lot of guys took 35-36 in only 26.... So when someone says Tyreke Evans.. Yeah he played well, but has similar stats to DLo in 37 mpg. Russell would have to play almost a game and a half to get 37 minutes

Where we are getting a bit of disservice is we are not even seeing him play 30 minutes a game, let alone 35.

To be honest, no PG will ever be enough for Lakers fans.. They'll never be happy unless Kobe reincarnated walked through that door again

Schroeder

Thing is the majority of the guards in this league are still young enough in relation to him to either just be entering their primes (ie Kyrie, Dame, etc) or are in the middle (IT2, Klay). And there is an upcoming draft that it's loaded with guards that will be even younger than D'Lo (most are more highly regarded). At the moment we're stuck with him not knowing if we will keep this pick, but assuming we do I wouldn't be shocked if he's moved especially if the apathy continues.

I was gonna bring that up the other day. What PG drafted in the last 4 years is really lighting it up like that? D'lo might be the best one. It takes time

Dame was taken in the same draft as Beal. Schroeder the year after. Even JC was a better PG when for us. But not sure why its limited to PGs when he's not one anyway. And you go one draft before 5 years and you have Kyrie, IT2, Reggie Jax, Kemba, Klay, Jimmy B as guards.

Yea I did some googles and edited it to the last 4 years . How did those guys look in year 2 tho. And his position has been pg in the league, don't see how that's debatable

Bottom line is it's the same guys pissing on him since summer league last year, and the same guys sayin wait and be patient to counter them. Nothin gonna change that. People gonna stay on his back his entire career here. The rest of the young guys will continue to skate tho.

Outside of BI who has gotten some criticism as well who's skating? Randle, JC, Nance etc have all been critiqued at times. D'Lo is getting more and more now largely cause of his own mouth. He's steadily talking even from draft day about his confidence, wanting to be the leader, etc. Yet you got dudes in here, former players, scouts, commentators etc. questioning if he's playing hard, takes things seriously, effort, beyond what he can or can't do on the court. It was supposed to change with a coach that didn't hate him or so we though, but many of the same issues exist from an intangibles perspective.

BI has been knocked for his shooting, JC for his tunnel vision, Nance for being not aggressive enough at times, only Randle has similar effort and laziness concerns. But none of them are the self proclaimed leaders of the squad.
