**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I think the expectations everyone including myself had of him were to high when we drafted him I just don't see what you see

Bingo.

The guy was picked #2 overall. Drafted to be the heir apparent. Was compared to Steph/Harden/Manu.

And so far, he hasn't lived up to that billing. Expectations need to be adjusted. D-lo could possibly be a borderline all star in the future. Which is cool if you're ok with that. Dont think he's the guy you build around.

If you adjust the expectations....Dollywood looks a lil better. But if you're still believing this man to be the savior of the lakers, and someone to build around. Boy oh boy .

D-lo as a complimentary piece can be valuable though. He can play. But he has some obvious limitations that will limit him from becoming an elite level player he was projected to be.

Monta Ellis.

At least Monta Ellis had 4 seasons of averaging between 20-25 ppg, damn near 6 assists, and almost 2 steals per game during his peak and won Most Improved Player. Do you see DLo doing anything close to this?

Basic way of looking at a player, just on ppg and ast but i'll bite.

You hate stats, but he's already avg over 19 and 6 Per 36 while being a borderline elite isolation player and playing with trash.

I'm not a fan of Per 36 for a variety of reasons, but with the way luke's rotations are (not just for Dlo, but for everyone on the team, minutes wise) it kind of gives you some perspective. He's at 14&5, playing less minutes than he was last season.

You play him anyway. If he stinks for the game or not.

Ask yourself this... Long term, what does the franchise gain with Lou Williams closing the game and not D'Angelo Russell?

Dlo should absolutely get minutes, let's see what he's got for extended minutes over an extended period

The fact that he hasn't earned those minutes is very revealing.

And even if he, let's just say, "earns" those minutes...do you have confidence that his knees and legs will hold up for the long term? I mean dude is 20 and has both knees in ice packs every game!

Who looks like the older player, LuolD or DLol?

Point has always, always, always been, since the second Dwight chose Houston, tank, bottom out, and find a way to keep the picks we owed.

Get cheap, build a young core.

Randle, Clarkson, DLo, Nance, Ingram, Zubac.

Then supplement them. That is the only part left to take care of.

It shouldn't matter who is 1A, or 1B, or 3C or whatever the ****, if they can contribute to the overall roster, like Fish, Fox, Horry, LO, Nance etc, the rest will settle from there.

Clowns spend their time screaming during summer league about eyebrows and body language like some ******* fools.

It takes time. Expecting results at 19-20-21 is ******ed. Barbershop quartet bunch of tards type team building. But trading for 1-2 players eating 75% of the cap and having no talent or assets behind that to fill in behind that is pretty much the dumbest possible way they can rebuild unless you have players colluding together and taking paycuts like Miami.

But stay focusing on one player and his media quotes, or hair styles. That's the "logic" you all wanna live by, by all means, be that.

Bro are you serious? A ******* picture heat???

This tells you nothing man. Nothing at all.

He's your PG of the future and honestly has been the best young talent LAL has. You almost have to give him extended minutes, just to see if he's worth the investment. You spent a #2 on him.

Well, we won't know the actual results of D'lo closing games and playing 32 minutes a night until he does.

Think so bro? I wouldn't say that. From D'lo on down, I think Coach Luke is taking a primitive approach to player's minutes.

Your best players should be playing more than 25, 26 minutes in the NBA, point blank.

Look, I want him to get consistent heavy minutes to see what he can do, but for some reason 2 coaches now don't think he should get those minutes

It's sad that a guy who by all estimations is terrible for team ball yet still plays over the prized young dude who everyone gets better when he's on the floor. You would think that'd be an easy call for the coach. And this was happening last year too when Lou wasn't having nearly as a good of a season. There's definitely something else besides just Lou, specifically when you take into account Puke's comments.

I am tired of hearing Lou Williams is the reason DLo isn't getting consistent heavy minutes especially at the end of games. Thats garbage.

If the boy wanted to play 30+ minutes every game and play at the end of 4th quarters he would force Luke's hand and outplay his way to those minutes.
All he has to do is outplay Lou. Plain n simple. Why should the FO have to trade a veteran bench player cuz his starting 20 yr old PG can't outplay him to earn minutes. Get outta here.

I dont speak out too much on the subject of DLo cuz its annoying, but that excuse is a really tired one. LouWill/Nick Young are preventing the youngins from getting consistent 30+ minutes :smh:

Puke is just like Kerr, he wants an egalitarian environment. For better or for worse, Lou is the best player on the team right now and Puke is going to give him minutes at the expense of D'Lo unfortunately.

I agree. It's a convenient excuse. And Puke does a good job of shielding him in the aftermath a lot of the times.

'All he has to do is outplay Lou'..lolz. Bruh led the league in ppg for a month or something like that. But all you gotta do is outplay him. Lolz

If he doesnt how can those other 14 players look at him as the HC and respect him... you couldnt.
