That was a stupid proposal but still it's not everyone. We know Ingram by all accounts is the 1 untouchable asset on the team and everyone else is subject to be moved. Whether it's 1 of Randle or D'Lo and a bench guy is not gutting the team. You still have 2 young core guys including the one with the most upside when you're adding PG.
If everyone is so sure George is coming, there is ZERO need to trade ANYONE for him. I don't care if it's Clarkson, Randle, DLo, nobody needs to be dealt for a guy that would want to come here as a free agent to begin with.
It's the Melo situation all over again, and it didn't work out for **** with Melo, it won't for us either.
If George TRULY wants to be here, let him come here with all our assets in house. Then if you want to deal 2-3 of those for a second star, to join George, then you can make that move if you feel it necessary.

It's not the Melo situation at all you're being hyperbolic. There was nobody left on that Knicks team when he got there. That wouldn't be the case here at all. You just as easily could sign another free agent next summer with the cap space you have with PG13 already in tow.

Ingram is only available for cousins iirc.
Anyway pg has proven that he's not that guy who will carry a team to the promised land. He needs all the help he could get. So if you have to trade anything remotely significant for him you already ****** yourself. So you get rid of his help in order to get him and then you pray that he makes all NBA or maybe petition Adam silver to add a 4th all NBA team as incentive for him to stay. Then you also pray you can lure another star in free agency. Then you pray that the guys available like Russ and boogie who have also proven not to be that guy somehow become that guy as they approach 30. If Russ and KD ain't work why the hell would Russ and Paul George. Ditto with boogie and ant Davis.
Just don't make no damn sense

Not trading for PG means another year of tanking and I'm really tired of it. Although we still won't have enough to win, it would be nice to see improvement instead of being a bottom 3 team once again.
I'm totally fine with trading JC and Randall for PG because this means we would get rid of either Mozgov/Deng.
But all this talk is useless because the 2018 All Star Game will be in Staples Center so you already know the Lakers aren't going to wait.

Trading for a guy that already wants to join the team is the Melo situation. Point blank, period.

The Lakers are done tanking. For real this time. They have no incentive to tank anymore. We don't have the 2018 pick.
Everything I've read/heard from Magic & Rob is that they don't mind waiting until 2018. That means they don't care about having an all star this year. We got PG who's begging to be a Laker anyway. We can claim him as our all star

Lakers get to keep at minimum 6 outta the 8 young prospects (including 2 of the top 3) and add an All Star yet it's like the Melo situation. Don't make no gaddamn sense.

I may be in the minority here, but I'm fine with drafting Lonzo and the 28th, maybe picking up some cheap help and rolling. No need to chase PG13. I really think that the kids will progress greatly and DLo and Randall will turn a corner, especially with Lonzo facilitating. We could be a 40 win team. If we weren't purposely tanking, we may have won about 35 last year.
