**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Playing KD at 2 was a terrible move  He was extremely out of position. I wanted to kill PJ Carlisemo for doing that to him. Completely negated KD's quickness advantage. ******* Jeff Green got the minutes at the 3 Lmao. That's why PJ never coached in the NBA again.

KD playing the 4 with Ibaka or Adams at 5 was the best lineup for OKC last year. Just like Draymond at 5 & Kd at 4 is the dubs best lineup this year.

In this pace and space era, we want our bigs to be fast and be able to shoot. Lonzo/Dlo/BI/PG/(Nance or Randle) is what I envision as the future Lakers best lineup. That gives you length from 1-4 and the ability to switch almost everything on defense. Just need BI & JR/Nance to improve from 3 point range.

In his 9 years in OKC, only 16% of his total minutes were at PF, only slightly above the amount of time at SG. OKC flourished against GS when both Ibaka AND Adams were on the floor with KD. That's how you beat GS not playing small ball.

KD is taller than Ingram by 3 inches, right? some of the weight difference can be explained by that

I think BI should gain 20-25 lbs over the next 2 years, but I have concerns that he won't be able to

That's a lot of weight to put onto a basketball frame especially when he still may be growing, like Magic said it's more about his core strength so he's not getting knocked off as much. You can be thinner but be wirey strong.

I agree but I don't think he'll hold up at the 4 for a whole season.

I think he can eventually play small ball 4 on the second unit and to close games.

Ideally, I would want BI and Randle closing games at the 4 and 5. I'm sure they'll experiment with that next yr.

Why the hell ya'll want BI to be power forward so bad?

He's a 3. That's where he's best at.
Exactly

OKC prolly would've won a ring if they did play KD at 4 more often tho. Perkins at the 5 was damn near the main reason they lost to Miami. Harden didn't play well either, but Scott Brooks ****** that up, should've been playing Ibaka at the 5 w/ KD at the 4 more often. Perkins played 116 minutes in 5 games. LeBron was on a mission that year tho, he wasn't going the be denied  Maybe it wouldn't have mattered.

Point is, until the Warriors came around and Draymond took Lee's spot as small ball center when Lee got injured, nobody was really playing small ball around the league. **** took off at that moment and now it's prevalent everywhere. Bron, Kawhi and KD all play the 4 and that's usually when their respective teams play best.

You know why. Do the math assuming PG gets on board.

Well he ain't playing PF full time. That's not his game, he ain't getting swole putting on 20-40lbs in 2 years.

Dudes be saying some unrealistic **** in here. We'll cross that PG bridge if we get there.

The Warriors obviously don't play KD at 4 full time but they do in the 4th and that's when they're best. I'm not saying 35 minutes at the 4 night in and night out, but 15-20 minutes eventually would be ideal.

Regardless, we can cross that bridge when we get there. My main point was I don't think BI will reach his potential if he strictly only plays the 3.

D'Lo is going to have to go to the bench or get moved once PG comes on board. Just get ready.

I only mentioned Dlo's name once
Take his **** out ya mouth for a second.

I'm talking about Ingram's potential.

Cause this really is the only reason this nonsense about Ingram or PG playing the 4 when they're clearly most effective and best suited on the wing is coming up. Cause it's way too easy to just slide PG in at the other wing position and have Randle or Nance at the 4.

I would not be against bringing Dlo off the bench. I just wouldn't play/start George or Ingram at the 2. That's a waste.

Right. Don't think it's unrealistic to have BI play there in spurts especially against certain match ups.

Both BI and PG are best suited at the 3 for now.

I don't want either of them running around screens the whole game guarding 2s.

Expecting that is just as unrealistic as BI playing the 4 in spurts eventually.

If its the 2 or the 4, one of them will be out of position.

PG played the 2 a lot especially when Danny Granger was still good and had some of his best on/off numbers of his career. Plus defensively it makes a helluva lot more sense than either of them at the 4. Most 2s aren't running off screens either.
