**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Guy at work said he heard a rumor that Sac is willing to give up their two picks for the #2 pick. Anyone else hear that?

its a scenario though...but  unlikely

ill play along.

lets say the lakers do this trade. now they can draft for Sac at 2 ....then draft a fox/jackson/ball tatum at 5 then trade the 10 to Indy for PG?

or keep the 10 and draft Lauri and ship randle out

slow day

I'm really hoping these reports are true about passing on Ball
Once they work out Ball and Fox, I think that seals the deal and we draft Fox. We need some quickness and defense on the perimeter

I say NO to another slow PG with "elite vision "

The guy who reported it has known to fake a lot of things. He has no credentials.

This Fox obsession is similar to the Mudiay obsession all over again.

damn if the lakers pass on ball the lavar meltdown will be something to see

my ***** gon be stuck in phoenix tryna sell that big baller cheeks gear for 10 times the value

Fox being mudiay is the perfect comparison...Lakers aren't stupid if it ain't ball/Fultz trade that ish

I actually don't think the Lakers are taking Ball anymore. Too many reports coming out saying the Lakers aren't interested or that they aren't as interested as previously reported. Feels like Okafor all over again. IMO, Lakers management is floating/spreading these rumors around so that the Lakers fan base doesn't revolt when LA passes on Lonzo.

its the same source, everyone just running with it and playing off the scenario...

momo reported that it was still 5--50 that he would be picked by the lakers.

Or tryin to drive up the market for #2 so teams come callin. See if they can steal somethin from someone.

This.

I'm all in for Fox if he impresses in the workouts though.

You know what's funny. And obviously Lonzo is not 0.0000001% of Magic Johnson.

But Magic was slow, not a good defender, not athletic, no midrange shot, no 3 point shot

BUT he dominated the game with his passing, rebounding, size/strength, transition scoring, pace, leadership, high IQ.....then he developed a post up game to add to it.

It's hard to see a player like Magic being elite again in this era of modern basketball, where there are SO MANY more of those little quick PGs running around compared to the 80s.

As much as I knock Lonzo......he has a lot of the same flaws Magic had.

Idk the more I think about the more I realize I don't know.

Lonzo, Fox or JJ are all legit options at 2. I think the Lakers go with a point, but you never know til it's over.

I trust West and the scouting department to get it right. They have for the past 3 years so I'm not losing my faith now. Not stressing over who they pick.

In 2014, I wanted Randle and we got him
In 2015, I wanted Dlo and we got him
In 2016, there was no mystery. It was a 2 player draft and we had the 2 pick. Even tho I wasn't the biggest fan, I knew who they were gunna take right away and wasn't mad at it.
In 2017, there are 4 players up for grabs but I'm not sure which way they're leaning. Just gunna sit back and watch but it's prolly Fox or Ball.

I'm just so worried about Fox's shooting, that I think I would avoid him at #2. And I say that knowing shooting is one of the more correctable/improvable skills.

If they can make nance jr into a respectable shooter they can make fox work. Nance had the worst form I had ever seen coming out of college. Not saying it is good now, just a lot better

come on ya'll, you know what I'm saying. Magic and LBJ are more or less the same size (LBJ more yoked) and everyone knows LBJ has world-class athleticism. A 6'9 man dunking a ball doesn't mean he's super athletic. Yes, he's athletic in the sense that he's a 6'9 PG who can handle the rock and push the ball.

But I was referring to Lonzo and Magic both not having explosive athleticism as a strength. My overall point is that a lot of things Lonzo is knocked for are similar to what Magic's weaknesses were (not particular athletic, not a high flyer per se, not a great midrange shooter, not a great defender)
