**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Yea.. shouda tanked to get the 8 spot. We own OKC. Dont care if LAL dont win the chip, just want more than 4 games to watch. Now im gonna have to root for the Wolves to humble this nugget team
Woulda lost to Sacramento

If LAL is 0-11 against DEN and AD is something like 0-9 against Sabonis, I definitely don’t see them beating Sabonis and Fox the way they’ve looked against them all season

AD is the only one I don't have criticism for on the team. Maybe Taurean too, but it's so inconsequential, it doesn't matter.

What I will say about DLo. Tonight was a **** offensive performance. He missed 3 bunnies (2 3's, and 1 in the paint that led to an AD rebound and 2nd chance points), took 1 bad shot in the 4th, and had a couple tough looks).

But if the Lakers go as DLo goes; Why in the hell are you only getting him 7 shots? Game 1, him missing 14 out of 20 is on him. Get that much opportunity, he has got to make them. Comes back and has a great game 2. Had a great play-in as well. Both had clutch plays by him. Also pulling him for 12 straight minutes when the offense has been **** for a quarter and a half collectively and the game was slipping away is a confidence killer. Gabe and Spencer do not offer more chance of winning than DLo or AR. I mention AR because AR gets a long hook sometimes as well. Especially if you're running lineups that have very few minutes together. Ironically DLo and AR have played pretty good defense. And if we're comparing it to the last year's series they both have done a 180 defensively.

DLo is a middle of the road playoff player. Most of it is the same reason that he's a pretty good player and not a franchise player. Lack of athleticism / speed mixed with a slim frame. Playoffs are more physical, so measurables make more of a difference. But there still has to be a concerted effort to maximize contributions. The player themselves, but also the coaches and teammates. The reason the Nuggets are so good is that guys can play like **** all game, and they still continue to look for everybody consistently.
The argument is nothing other than if the team goes as DLo goes, you have to make him more of a focal point of the offense. As a scorer and facilitator. If he isn't good it is on him, and the fate is sealed. But if he only gets 7 shots, even if he hits his percentages, it is not the contribution you need of him (it wouldn't of any player you insert into that role). He's the easiest scapegoat on the team. Some of it deserved.

Doesn't discount he was **** tonight on offense. Still gotta get the ball to him to get the numbers you need to win.

What Bron is doing at 39 is amazing. He's a beast. A medical marvel. But if he's not guarding the best perimeter player because he's old and needs to conserve energy. It is not too much to ask for him to play the 4th best offensive player (MPJ is 3rd best offensive player) and box out on rebounds and not butter fingers the ball away. Bron on the defensive end is a huge reason this is 0-3 and not 1-2 or 2-1.

Rui has nothing. Shouldn't have been on Jokic to start the series. He is a poor rebounder. And he's just missing shots that not even a drunk DLo would miss. And they can't get to many actions that get Rui scoring either. 2 of the 3 games he's had only 4 shots each.

AR as a super 6th man would have solved so many issues if they had a KCP type player at the 2. AR is playing pretty good defense on Murray. But hasn't been good on offense. Story of the season. He shows flashes, but didn't take the leap he was expected to.

Everything else, who cares.

Here's my thing about Rui... same with DLo and basically all of the guys on this roster (said this earlier in the season)

You would think that if you had the chance to play w/ Lebron and AD the only thing that matters is winning a championship... you should be willing to do whatever it takes, and whatever role is necessary in order to reach that ultimate goal. Sacrificing shots, minutes, being willing to do the dirty work because that's what it takes to win. All season long, seems like all we heard was leaks about guys being unhappy with minutes, roles, shots, etc. Basically me me me me...

Fisher
Fox
Horry

Oh and yes, moar DLo please.

just forfeit game 4 so we don't have to go through the motions of getting a lead and then blowing it badly

Losing 12 in a row in 12 months of the regular season and back to back sweeps by the same team likely get Ham fired

But he does have the excuse that he never had his full squad all year and he won the IST

Hard to say what Jeanie will do
