GET OUT -- New horror film about black man meeting white gf's parents. Looks creepy.

I feel like there is a main theme in the underlying commentary and depictions of deer in this movie but cant quite figure out what it is.

The way chris's mom was in a car accident and left for dead and them hitting the deer with the car and chris seeming like he wanted to do something but leaving it for dead. He had a dream about that deer too. The dads comments about the deer were obvious allusions to racism but i think theres deeper meaning there too. Plus he killed the dad with the deer head/antlers which was an odd choice of weapon. Theres something there with the deer.

Also, seems like a lot of people are bringing up plot holes or wondering why this or that happened the way it did. Remember there is an underlying social commentary and a lot of things that may not seem to make sense litterally may be to make sense in the allegory that is being laid out.

So if the grandpa didn't tell Chris he was hypnotized he would have thought it was just a weird dream?

Why did the grandpa tell him ?

Was it just a gamble to flash the grandpa with the camera

And Chris is outside everyone is talking he comes in they keep talking and stay silent when he stomps upstairs, if I was Chris I would know 20 people downstairs just stayed silent

What's up with Georgina spilling the tea? I seen someone ask but I didn't see an answer

Finally got a chance to see this movie tonight. Certified classic man. So random but I seen dude who plays Andre at the mall yesterday, wish I would have chatted with him now. He already kills it in Atlanta. I gotta talk to my little bro about this as he almost exclusively dates the [emoji]128007[/emoji].

I remember the blind dude told Chris the reason they tell him "he's hypnotized" is so they both have a mutual understanding of what is going on. That's why the blind dude came on camera to answer any questions Chris might've had.
The flashing of the grandpa was to bring him to "reality" and get the "grandpa" out of the host body, I believe. May be wrong though.

Georgina spilling the tea was her real self fighting against the grandmother. Also why she was randomly crying and saying no.

Same reason u stated for spilling the tea. I think she was saying no and crying because she was fighting it.

Edit oh thought u were asking

Saying no was the grandma inside but the tears were coming from the host.

Georgina was prob the grandmas actual name tho

That was INCREDIBLE acting.

you totally get the nuance of the internal struggle just by looking at her face. :smokin

Did Andre not have to do the "party" phase? where the neighbors look at the prospect. Maybe they already had a buyer for Andre?

Yeah that's why i said he may have been done as a favor or straight up purchase because of the way he was wrangled by the brother.

That old woman he was with already had her husband transferred to Andre. He might not have done the party phase cause of the crazy brother.

That makes sense. Seems like the bro just wants to brute strength knock them out and drag them in but the parents want the whole process that's why they were so upset at him at dinner for trying that ****.

They probably don't do a big party for every single person, because, just considering the ages of some of the people who were at the party, health issues probably have to be taken into account in some cases. In such cases, they just wouldn't have time to be worrying about big setups like that.

Or it could be that Chris was the best speciman that they had. Cause apparently the party had some type of frequency but we weren't told exactly how often it happened. And we only saw Andre, Georgina, and the grandpa as the successful transfers. Nobody else in the cult had another host that we saw, so it kinda leaves us in the dark to exactly what happened with all the rest of Rose's victims.

Interesting, I wonder why Andre and that lady was even at the party in the first place. Maybe to show off the success of the transfer? I also assume that noone was aware that a flash would disrupt the host.

Sidenote, thought rose was gonna shoot one of them in the car at the end of the movie

Rose needed that golden gun boost, Chris was outchea not even zigging and zagging and she missed relatively close shots. She had a damn bayonet through

During the first day they're there, Rose's parents mention that the party happens on the same weekend every year and she acts all surprised, as if she'd forgotten. That could have been a lie of course.

Only thing that lost me was the bidding. Was chris sold for 10k?

I had no idea they were auctioning him off until my girl mentioned it afterwards. She said it was 20k

Naw it's a 100k man. You really think these white people gonna risk kidnapping jail time for that much money?

Each bid was in increments of 10k, cuz the dad jumped from 5-6 all the way up to 10 fingers when the art dealer held up his card and everyone was all surprised. Given the fact that he knew Chris was a photographer and that he was relatively younger than all the other bidders he wanted to make sure that he got Chris. I'mma need to re-watch it and write down all the bingo card numbers to decipher it.
