GET OUT -- New horror film about black man meeting white gf's parents. Looks creepy.

Yall called it....dude never heard of the movie and followed up with "I heard Logan was good"

Edit: I told him to keep an eye open for the subliminal's in the movie. He says "Nick, I have black nieces and nephews. I know all about racism"

.......y'all pray for me.

I have a few coworkers who told me about how they'd had similar run-ins with the cops in the past. Not necessarily for missing people/kidnappings, but going to police officers for anything and not being treated seriously. So, I thought that was an especially good addition to the film. Though, of course, the friend was a little over the top in his descriptions of what was going on

I expected him to get blown off based solely on the fact an adult has to be missing for days before they'll declare them missing, did not expect him to discuss his full sex slave conspiracy tho lol once he started that I knew he wasn't gonna get anywhere

Back in college, my friend called me at 4 AM to tell me he got kidnapped and placed in some underground lab where people were trying to harvest his organs. He called his mom and told her the same @#$@, and she called me right after he did and told me "Please save my son!" I immediately called the police and started calling up my friends to find out where they last saw him. I started driving around the area because I had no idea what else to do.

An hour later I got a call back from his mom saying that he was in the hospital.

Turns out dude was drunk and high as @#$@, was found half passed out on the pavement, tried to fight the EMTs when they tried to help him, and was taken to a hospital to be hooked up to an IV :smh:

Ever since then, I've been highly hesitant to report suspicious things to the police when it involves friends, because most likely they are doing something extremely stupid (and I've been right 100% of the time so far)

Isn't it standard that a person has to be missing for 48 hours for them to make a report? In that case, he was. I thought about WHO was chosen in that scene. All happen to be minorities. His friend was missing, despite the crazy story, yet they didn't take him seriously. In the end, what happened? He took the car and had to show up himself to save his friend.

I think it's 48hrs, just don't remember how long he'd been missing when he went up there

He left Friday, when he went to the police he said he was supposed to be back Sunday. I'm assuming it was at  least Monday.

na man, she was driving a lincoln. lincoln/caddiclac makes hearses, dude was riding to his funeral

Saw it last night.

Amazing.

Incredible first outing by Peele. Was gonna pass b/c I'm not a fan of anything he's done  but the RT scores were too overwhelming.

Yall touched on everything: Chris feeling obligated to check on the deer, the ID scene w/ the cop, the deer passage by the dad, jesse owens, all the black ppl covering up the tops of their heads, cotton picking, the tea, the omega, every single conversation Chris had during the "party", the blind art dealer not realizing that he's just as bad as everyone else ( ) and the parallels to his real-life counterparts. the plot & undertones were incredibly done.

I felt awful for the victims. After Chris hit Grandpa with the flash, he offed Rose, then shot himself. Didn't want to fight anymore. The black chick kept creeping up to the surface in grandma. Shorty was fighting sooooo hard :frown:

Then I felt really bad for Chris. His mother's death & the circumstances surrounding it really ****** him up. He was needy & compassionate to a fault.

He ran over grandma & still felt obligated to not leave her laying in the street.

When he & Rose took that walk before "bingo" started, he told her "You're all I got. I'm not leaving here without you." It's been 4 months dawg. Grab ya nuts.

Then he stumbled upon the red box w/ all the pics and still tried to leave WITH Rose  STILL giving her the benefit of the doubt because he desperately wanted their 4-month relationship to work.

So, the plot by itself was great.

Then you had the aforementioned racial undertones. Perfect man. Peele executed this flawlessly.

Going to see it again at some point. Great performances all around. Chris' reactions to everything were on point, I was happy to see my guy Rel get this look & he DELIVERED  Rose played both sides of her character perfectly.

Out of all the things that happened in this film, that part was the only wildly unrealistic part to me . And we talking about hypnosis and brain replacement stuff. But come on, only 4 months?! Dude was IN TEARS talking like "we're in this together babe, I'm not leaving you behind. ALL MY LIFE I HAD TO FIGHT" 4 months man :smh:

Literally after a second person came at me with that racist bull, I would have did the 50 cent laugh and drive off gif

I honestly don't even remember them discussing how long they've been together until I came into this thread but you can tell he never really talked about his mother passing. Kinda touches on how black people ignore legitimate mental health issues and try to push them to the back of their minds and keep it movin'.

He prob had a long term relationship before ol girl and was probably attracted to women who were nurturing

also I think he didn't confront his girl about the pictures in the attic because to him, she was his only way out of the house at that point, he was gonna play it cool until they made it out of there

So this Pakistani-American woman I work with went to see it and we were chopping it up about the movie. She knows what time it is and gets the meaning behind it. Tell me why this Mexican chick tried to relate "all minorities" as having the same experiences? Please... as slavery? The Pakistani woman corrected her and I opted out of the discussion.

Haven't followed the missing people discussion in here, but...

Then there's the organ harvesting talk that has been quietly circulating through the conscious community. :nerd:

A book I'm adding to my Amazon list:

If she's in on it then why would she let him leave the house?

What's this organ harvesting talk?

And "delectable negro"? White cannibalism? It's sounding like some of these white folks are straight freaks out here. Someone put me on game. What's going on out there?

At work right now, but I'll post links if I have time tonight. In the meantime, do your Googles.

That NYT article was about "missing" in terms of just not being available so they included dead and incarcerated. It was still interesting although I can see how many would hate it because a lot of black men hate hearing/reading about how there's only x good black men for every black women.
