anybody evacutating for matthew??

DR? I read only a few Dominicans died from the storm compared to 108 minimum in Haiti

You wanted more Dominican deaths to match Haitian deaths or something? :rolleyes

Stay safe bros, a lot of people taking this too lightly, this isn't a blizzard, these are gusts that would deroot trees and rip roofs right off roofs, seek shelter.

I rather deal with 3 feet of snow than that **** anyday.

I think he just meant the DR was safer.

I'm out here in Miami vibing. Yall wylin, unless you live in the palm beach, central area of Florida. You should have been outta there though. NY cribs not built for canes b, yall jawns like 200 years old built out of old wood (no homo)
yup , these houses are built with that cement x steal combo not to mention all new houses i think legally have to have built in shutters i believe.

Like I posted earlier, the media has got most of y'all shook. The eye of the storm is right where I am on the coast, and we haven't even lost power yet.

It's always better to overestimate these things than to underestimate them....with these storms *** can go south before you can react....lets not forget New Orleans man....

Nature is a force to be reckon with fam, just get the sense a lot of people like to flaunt their "I drank my way through a cat5 storm, this is lightwork" card
Generally, I agree with that sentiment, but unlike a lot of the Caribbean, NO and the northeast, we have the structural integrity to handle these storms.

For much of us here in FL, after getting 3 major storms in 6 weeks back in '04, this is par for the course, b

Is similar to us and how we brush off threats of 3 feet of snow....till that day people got stranded over night on the highways....either way stay safe bro.

Yea and the reason why not as many people died in Florida was probably due to the trajectory it has nothing to do with people in Florida having more access to shelter and resources to protect themselves.

Comparing Florida, a US state to DR

Don't worry b, DR is so rich a cat5 can sweep through it while Dominicans sit in front of the colmado with a Presidente in hand.

What on earth are you going on about here?

Someone asked if Haitians even have a place to evacuate to. I suggested da DR because the reports I'd been reading said there were significantly less deaths over there, leading me to assume it was a bit safer from the storm there.

I don't know how you even got "You wanted more Dominican deaths to match Haitian deaths or something?

" out of that but that's not remotely close to what I said, nor what I meant. This is no time to start petty arguments, especially baseless ones.

Yes I compared Florida a us state to the dr to make a point about the effects of socioeconomics, infrastructure and handling disaster. I can lead a horse to water steezy but I can't make it think.

US is to DR what DR is to Haiti.

Seems legit.

You think you have it all figured out, but you are clueless AF.

Anyways fam, move on.

And who do you think is the First Nation to lend aid to Haiti EVERYTIME it's been hit with an earthquake or hurricane?...that's right DR...I'm sure DR with the very little they have will do their part to help their brothers like they always have.

Safer tho? DR was spared by nature....only reason the death toll was lower, good thing though, this way DR is in a position to help, DR gets hit the way Haiti did, all those little tin houses along the coastal towns will end up in the sea along with their residents.

You ain't fooling me tho, I see right through ya.

Ya'll boys wake up ready to argue.

Amazing.

So is the damage done for the most part?

@ninjahood please make the thread for the almost 300 deaths in Haiti, pa.

Prove the haters you are a sensible young man.

im still waiting for that earthquake thread

I think he just meant the DR was safer.

Safer how? Only reason not as many dominicans died because of this was because of its trajectory...not because DR is "safer" **** still a third world country.

they're levels to that though...DR got way better infrastructure than Haiti, if people are in peril in DR just by virtue of better communication & paved roads leads to less deaths because da better socio economic standing.

da poorer your country, da worst u handle natural disasters.

The question was asked if Haitians have anywhere to evacuate to. I answered the question, it's as simple as that and idk why you're looking to start an argument that isn't there. You just agreed with me the DR was hit less hard by Matthew than Haiti, so what's wrong with me saying some Haitians could evacuate to the DR temporarily?

We have Haiti at 0 and DR maybe at a 3, yeah their infrastructure IS better....who's gonna argue that? But you know all those secluded coastal towns and its residents are screwed with a hurricane of this magnitude...where they gonna run to? Only place I could think of that can provide shelter and that's if they lucky is a resort...

My point being there would be just as many deaths recorded....Thank God that wasn't the case tho.

its alot better than 3 b  but god bless anyways.

And I'm sure DR will open up the front door to give refuge to as many affected as they can, just how they did during the earthquake and NT will still push its "boycott racist DR" agenda.

**** is sad man, there is legit no excuse for Haiti to suffer the way it does, being so close to one of the most powerful nations in the planet who spends millions on interests in country's on the other side of the world, yet they won't step in and sit down with the Haitian govt to work something out in order to get Haiti and its people on their feet....one thing is being third world, but Haiti is on another level and to ice the cake Nature doesn't cut them any slack

So da storm was a flop like rare rare said it would be?

Just was just a marketing ploy by Poland spring to sell more water and for Thomas to sell more English muffins?

:nerd:
Exactly fam, we used to these conditions. Everyone I know on that side of the state said it's just windy. There's so many saying they're surprised they didn't lose power. Media hyping it up SO much, now I get to not underestimate nature because it's unpredictable but sometimes they inflict so much fear and panic into the general public.

*Update

The worst of the storm has passed where I am now, still raining with strong winds.

Didn't lose power though :wow:

The news said there's 100,000 plus without power in my county alone.
