My job landed me in Atlanta! UPDATE: anyone here

not that i know the area, but it seems you are only an hour from the Redneck Riviera...maybe something to do there

I used to be an Egress Mechanic in the Air Force, it'd be crazy to see a passenger plane with Ejection seats.... It'd probably just be a detachable cabin

I had to go to rural Louisiana once for a job. Coming from NYC, it's a totally different environment. The best thing they have there is a Walmart, it's like their Disneyland. I quit after a week and would never look back. I do miss the country girls, they are

You're much more committed to your work than I am. If I had to move to anywhere outside of a major California city, NYC, or Seattle (or their metro areas), I would quit that job in an instant

Bruh. NO women will have you mesmerized. my god.

I know. I grew up on the North Shore and spent a lot of time in New Orleans East, working during summers, ever since I was 13. Used to date a girl that went to McMain, my grandma, aunt and uncle lived off of Bullard Ave., etc. So I know, but still...

My friend went to visit his grandparents in South Carolina and he said the hotel owners were calling black employee's the n word and all that. It's not limited to the south but it's amplified. We don't have that **** happening out here.

And in NYC and Cali black people let non Blacks call them the N word. lol

Done none of that fly in ATL.

Bremerton is a cool small town my GF's from there, Her dad got stationed and just retired there. Got some pretty chill spots around town and just an hour ferry ride to Seattle. I wouldn't mind living out there when I decided move back home

Yeeeeah, but my daughters were 3 and 5 at the time and it was at during my custody battle, so I definitely would've lost all custody.

I'm still waiting for this to happen to me. Only people who ever called me that was racist ******** who wanted a problem. I've never come across people talking slick like that in my presence, growing up in Seattle or living in the bay.

Mind you I'm from the school of thought that Black/latinos are who can say it, but everyone is different. I've grew up with white dudes living in black neighborhood and none of them run around talking like they Kat Williams

drove through NO East while headed down there for the Bayou Classic. not trying to make a judgement off a area off of one drive through but i want no part of it. East looks like they have some more recovierng to do.

i love that city but NO has a eerie feel to it...like you dont **** around in NO on some dumb **** or you will get your head knocked off.

time of my life down there for the classic tho...

OP if you down there for that make sure you catch that...you will probably find your franchise player down there.

"The mighty 9, where we don't mind dying" was the slogan in New Orleans East/9th ward when I was a kid. Why do you think they didn't rebuild it after Katrina?

So I'm 29. Black, 6'8. Use to hoop a little, average guy. My job is aerospace mechanic. My last contract was Santa Maria, then to so cal, now mobile Alabama. I was hoping to go back home (Seattle).

Anyways I've been driving for 9hrs straight and looking up what Alabama has to offer. Chime in if anyone is from there. Also if ever been there. I have no clue, but since it's the south (gulp) and the Bible Belt, and where racial tensions I would assume are wilder, I just don't wanna end up in a bad situation. Trying to go in best foot forward.

So, do's and dont's?
I stay respectful so & I ain't about that life..
Just in the back of my mind I kinda wanna get a feel for the people and the day to day there.

Thanks .

My boy had to go to alabama...not sure what city..It was for training he had to take to work for M. Benz...2 funny stories : He's Cuban but looks white (blonde , green eyes etc.) One day he's somewhere chillin with one of his new found friends (white dude) spanish guy comes and asks them a question , my boy answers him in spanish to make it easier for dude to understand. His white friends mind is blown, asks him how does he know spanish...my boy tells him ...ummm well because im hispanic , white "friend" proceeds to ask him "why dont you look like all the other mexicans around here?". In another instance he hangin out with a few coworkers just kickin it ...when his NY jargon comes into play : yo my ***** this , yo my ***** that. Some guy pullas him to the side and tells him...whatever you do WHATEVER...DDONT YOU EVER USE THE N WORD round these parts. My boy is perplexed cuz were so use to it by now that he doesnt think its a big deal. So he keeps being the true new yorker he is and keeps it up with the , yo my ***** this , yo my ***** that. Next thing you know he had a group of dudes waitin outside for him to straight **** him up...just for the use of the N word.
I mean i understand that everywhere you go its not the same as NY...but damn...didnt know it was that serious...my boy told me that yeah ,racism is alive and well in Alabama.

Stay woke Op.

I'm from the gulf coast but live in atl...my girl is from mobile so we go home a lot... just a quick rundown...limited spots to grab kicks...IF YOU ARE NOT ABOUT THAT LIFE STAY OUT OF PRICHARD LOL...Food is great. Mardi Gras is fun...biloxi is casino city on the beach if you like to gamble. Racism isn't bad like some think...In the south you pretty much can tell who is racist they will make sure you feel the vibe.
