Which developed nation has the the worst quality of life for the average person?

Spent 2 months of my summer traveling through Europe and i gotta say that the quality of life there is A1.

People can get healthcare, jobs pay well, education is covered.

Most of the countries I visited had a month paid vacation for everyone who works.. Can you imagine that here?

On the flip side, the taxes are pretty high but at least everyone lives a decent life unlike in America where you are either

A) Crushing it
B) barely making it by and working check to check

Also the stress level seemed to be at all time low, people would literally take a long *** lunch everyday and drink a beer and chill.

Here you drink a beer on break and people think you are an alcoholic

Just what I have observed from my short hiatus.

Not to mention or justice system is completely out of wack.

We can learn a lot from Europe, but America is also a very young country so in time hopefully we can figure out the way to make things run as smoothly as they should.

America is awesome because we literally have all cultures which makes it so diverse unlike other countries, but we definitely have some problems that we need to resolve as Americans.

You didn't live in Europe. You visited Europe. You're comparing Europe's highlight reel to America's behind the scenes footage.

This is true, but i am actually a citizen of Switzerland as well and have family/relatives and bounced what I thought was the differences between US and Switzerland were and they even felt the same.. Not like I just went on a tourist trip but I understand what you are getting at.

Although all countries have problems, I'd prefer to live in one where the head of the household getting sick doesn't lead to the family loosing everything or having to make a go fund me just to stay afloat. We've all seen it , and it's pretty sad...

I had a buddy that spent some time in South America and he also explained to me how the quality of life was more relaxed. Al though of course there was poverty he explained to me that people there actually spent time with their family/friends and enjoyed the smaller things. Instead of just consuming so much /working to get ahead.

Have you been to another country and care to share your experience?

Facts.

I'm on my phone, someone hit this off with the Bugs Bunny gif.

Probably somewhere in eastern Europe.

Eastern Europe isnt considered "developed".
Saying the quality of life in US is bad is just untrue. If you feel otherwise trust me you just dont know how bad 70% if not more of the world has it

Not all of it is undeveloped (is that the right word?). And quality of life in the US is definitely bad for a nice little chunk of people.

So does average life mean middle class becuase that has been fading every second since Reagan. I don't know how the middle class of let's say Russia or china( I presume it's similarly abysmal) but the US is not the end all and be all of existence. A lot of second and third world countries one can live comfortably if they are willing to sacrifice the material things.

Russia by far:

Corrupt Governtment
Discrimination against women:
Domestic abuse is not illegal
Salary way out of whack
Limited freedoms
State-ran everything
Rampant racism
Deplorable infrastructure
Stray pack of dogs everyone
High poverty
Crime on every level of society

Once again Russia is a developing nation, let's stay on topic and keep this to developed nations

is mexico considered developed? if we're talking averages, then mexico has to be up there. while it has its beautiful and developed areas, them border towns aint no joke

As a traveler you won't really get to know the ins and outs of the European countries and its residents though. Traveling is always different than actually living there for an extended period of time. If I could pick any other place but Belgium to live, I'd probably pick Canada or Sweden.
As a traveler you mostly get to experience the positive sides. Such as our low-cost education system, paid vacations, paid maternity leave, universal healthcare, ...
But some of the major negatives might not really stand out to a traveler, such as race relations, criminal justice system etc. I'll use my country as an example. Our political system is horribly inefficient and our country is quite literally divided. Idk if you've visited but the north and south do not speak the same language. And that's just the beginning of the communication problem.
I live in the north, which is called Flanders. We speak Dutch here as our native language. The south is called Wallonia and speaks French as their native language. There's also a small spart that speaks German as their native language. With 3 areas all speaking a different language, you can probably guess where this is headed.
Here in Flanders, French and German are both mandatory languages in school. But here's the main problem: Dutch (our native language) is not a mandatory language in the south. Our parliament needs translators at all times because even some of our politicians can't fluently communicate in the same language. That's how bad this problem is.
I don't think a lot of foreigners realize how severe that problem is at all and how it affects our political process. In fact, I've noticed that many major companies don't even seem to realize that not all of Belgium speaks French as their native tongue, even though our Dutch speaking population is larger. This is just a simple example but on my Xbox, I set my location to US instead of Belgium because Microsoft puts everything in French.
Because of the location change 99% of it is in English, but because my account was created in Belgium some parts are still in French. Microsoft is perfectly capable of offering 100% Dutch services as they do so for the Netherlands, so they just don't know or don't care about Belgium's Dutch speaking population.
I do speak it somewhat fluently but English is more convenient as it might as well be my second native language.
Microsoft is far from the only major company who fails to recognize our language and the problem is not that they don't have Dutch translations. That is evidenced by seeing Dutch as a language option for the Netherlands but French being the only option for Belgium in many cases.

The problem has existed for as long as I can remember and I have seen zero change in improvement towards that since I was born. As you can imagine, this frustrates many of our residents. While we are taught French in Flanders, not everyone is equally gifted at learning different languages or putting in the effort to do so. And given that Dutch isn't even mandatory in Wallonia, a large amount of people don't even speak it at all, especially the older generation. Personally I just use English to communicate in the south, as do most of my friends.
Issues like these don't really stand out to travelers because English doesn't give you much problems anywhere in the country.
When I found out bout the language struggles in Belgium t got me thinking ...why not just make English the official language of the govt ? I know they don't wanna pick French or Dutch cuz that's gon piss one side off but go with a 3rd party language which in sure alotta of the politicians speak at least a lil bit anyway ...that's what they do in alotta countries

The worst parts of Paris are equal or worse than any hood in America ...they just do a better job of hiding it in France

But yea the USA struggles with education, health care, child care, n viol my crime ...these things should be much better than they are but been bad for years now

Yea the north ...like I said they do a great job of hiding it, it's walled off from the city n tourists so you'll never know

OP, you should just change this to Western powers. Since they're "technically" the only developed countries around, besides South Korea and Japan.
