Houston Rockets 2017 Preseason Thread - Spurs MyPlayers Take Over

View media item 2214416This whole minimal defense thing currently makes games more difficult than they should be. Deron Williams was scoring way too easy. I know he's been playing better since the end of last season, but he's still a 32 year old Deron Williams that's looked mostly mediocre since 2012.

I'm gonna give Brewer some credit for playing defense so far

First half was good and way more fluid than the second half. They really got lucky, and Wes stupidly fouled Harden late  the first half had a lot of activity both on offense and defense, and Anderson was actually managing to grab a good amount of boards.

Just came toyota center game tonight. If that's any indication of what we can expect from Sam Dekker then :pimp:

Options picked up and Capela and Dekker's contracts. Still no D-Mo update

Cavs tonight....curious to how this team looks against them. Really tough schedule ahead. So many road games early on

Not surprising:

The Houston Rockets will not pick up a team option on former Syracuse point guard Tyler Ennis for next year, meaning Ennis will become a free agent after this season, according to Houston Chronicle beat reporter Jonathan Feigen.

BTW, as Rockets pick up '17-18 contract options on Capela, Dekker today, will not on guard Tyler Ennis, source said.

Houston could have locked up Ennis for next season at a price of $2.7 million. Instead, Ennis will have to prove himself this season and earn his next contract.

He is getting that opportunity so far this season. With Patrick Beverly out with an injury, Ennis is serving as Houston's primary backup at point guard to James Harden. He has played in all three of the team's games, averaging 12 minutes, three assists and two turnovers.

Houston's decision was not particularly surprising. The Rockets reportedly considered waiving Ennis before the season and trying to bring him back at a lower price tag before deciding it wasn't worth the chance it would lose him to another team.

agreed.. already looks better than Brewer...

man I wish we still had Beasley instead of Ennis and kept Prigs.

Nene/Beas/Harrell bench rotation with Prigs/McDaniels/Dekker

When bev comes back does Pringles move EG back to the bench then? really loving the pairing of Harden and Gordon

We need a legit pf I feel

when Ryno was getting boards instead of forcing and jacking up threes, he was more valuable.

Much more valuable. He's actually good in the post and when driving. He shouldn't limit himself to just being a slower and taller Kyle Korver. We need those extra rebounds badly since Capela is basically the only guy getting boards, and Nene has never been a rebounder anyway.

Yep

While ennis does look bad I really don't mind the trade to much because of the potential. Beas is definitely the better player right now, but he was probably going to leave next year anyways. Also money did a good job finding Kyle and goran when they were relatively unproven players. Right now ennis does look pretty bad, but hopefully he can round out into a solid backup if nothing else

He also gave ish smith and Garrett temple their first real oppertunity to play so I'll give morey the benefit of the doubt on this one if it doesn't work.

Feel the same, which is why I'm not totally against Ennis. I guess I'm being pretty impatient due to teh fact that this team is pretty behind anyway, and you can just see other guys around the league developing and contributing faster (including guys the Rockets either had, or could have had).

I'm waiting to see if this team will have a dark horse emerge. We all know what James Harden can and will give you on a night to night basis, but who is going to be that complimentary player or players who can be trusted to make consistent big plays when the opportunity arises. With this Houston team it just feels like it's James Harden and then everybody else.

There is so much front court potential and to see one of the young guns emerge would be a lovely sight as well.

you know what, you are def right.. it was worth the gamble with Ennis. Truth be told, he's still young and theres a lot of improvements to be made.

On a different note, we are a +9 underdogs against cars tonight, i believe we'll cover that spread and win this game, who's with me?

Cavs won't be caring too much about the game (indians game tonight as well) and it'll be an offensive minded game with no defense at all

Let's get this W and start the road trip on a positive note!!!!
