Never mind the fact that they can rent (near a metro stop) in Arlington with either a studio or 1 bedroom, twice the size, for the same price or cheaper.
this, my baby bro stay in arlington in a new *** big *** development

i prefer that those dummies buy that ****, leaves nice spots vacant for a bargain and let young ****** joog in a sexy spot

I agree. But Ksteezy thinks that someone that just flew in from overseas or out of state to start their careers should invest in a house instead of paying rent. Those people don't have anywhere else to live and save up for a house , and they are basically forced to pay high rental prices because they have no other option. So generalizing and calling everyone who pays a lot in rent "stupid" is ridiculous

You are comparing paying rape rent prices to owning a house....making it seem like I'm shaming dudes living with roomies or in AFFORDABLE rent apartments in the not so popping areas of NY...that's not what I'm talking about b....obviously not everyone can afford a mortgage....what I'm talking about is the idiots paying 2k for some soho studio just because they wanna claim to be a "city resident" parking their fixie right outside their apartment and sharing half their living space with their French bulldog....those dudes can certainly afford a mortgage, but somehow think is more logical to keep paying these ridiculous rents further driving the cost of living in NY higher.

Did you not just say "in big cities?" What other big cities in New York are there besides NYC, if you were only talking about New York?

Big cities don't have surrounding suburbs? Nice neighborhoods? Is Cali the only state where is either 1M homes in the nice areas Vs some Crackhouse in the hood and NO IN BETWEEN?

Another reason CaLifornia sucks.

Stuff like this just reinforces my desire to stay out of NYC.  I'm already of the opinion that it's only good in small doses.  I see how a lot of my friends live out in Brooklyn and don't know how they tolerate it.  I'll take my $950/month one bedroom with a waterfront view, free private parking, and laundry on premises over their living situations any day of the week.

Struggling to find parking alone, keeps me away...my broinlaw lived out in Park Slope, dude used to wait 3 hours circling a 4 block radius trying to find a spot where street cleaning the next day won't get him a ticket while he was at work...MAN GTHO WITH THAT STRUGGLE....

Dude is happy as hell living out in Yonkers now..

Main reason I leave my car and take the train 80% of the time. I don't have time to be looking for parking when I'm just trying to get home after a long day. Train is 4 blocks away I'll walk it.

I spend about 2-3 days a month out in Brooklyn and I drive to get there.  Just a nonstop stress-fest between parking, traffic, and general city-driving douchebaggery.  That **** is for the birds.  Always happy to retreat back home.

Hey but you got the new trendy pho spot served to you by some douchebag with an attitude that just moved in from the Midwest right down the block  or brunch spot with 15$ mimosas

But millenials gon Millenial....that's the reality of it....the luxury of being able to say "hey I live in X neighborhood in the heart of Manhattan" beats out any other logical choice....keep getting your pockets raped dummies

I literally tweeted this lmao

People really paying thousands of dollars to live in a prison cell appartment? No thanks
Cost of living differs from country to country of course but my rent is €700 and I live in a decent home in a small rural town. Got 3 large rooms upstairs for myself and an attic. Downstairs has a medium size livingroom, large kitchen, large storage room and garage and another bedroom for my mom. A nice backyard as well. I just can't really fathom paying thousands for what is essentially almost a prison cell

My dude, you know how much a house in DC is?

A 3 bedroom apt in downtown DC is around $4500 in Arlington pushing $6k. You could finesse a spot in alexandria or Maryland, but everyone ain't trying to live in MD and alexandria can be somewhat of a hike for people as well depending on how fa out it is. PG county is a gold mine for housing developers and all there is out here are houses, but taking a look at that article, I 90% can guarantee they aren't considering PG county during their house hunt.

You got 4,300sq houses in Arlington county starting at $1.3mil.

So where do you go from there?

These are the places people who work in DC live, while theres definitely cheaper alternatives further out on the outer skirts of the district, traffic on highways 295/495/210/66 simply just isn't worth it to a lot of people, so they trade that off to pay a fraction of that to live in the city.

In a lot of cases its cheaper for some people to live in the city than to commute into the city here.

Everyone doesn't have $100k for a downpayment on a house around here. And this is coming from a guy who owns a house..

Is it what I would do? **** no. But I understand why someone else would given their circumstances..

This is just not true in a major city. 400K is the price for a good home in Stockton, CA, a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country. 400k WILL NOT get you ANYTHING good in California unless you live in the slums or Central Cali. Again you have no idea what you're talking about but keep trying to act like you know EVERYTHING

I thought this thread was about NY?

And no its not. Its about DC.

Yeah you pretty much get raped on housing around here if you aren't open to more affordable alternatives. Yeah this thread is about DC lol

Georgetown/Palisades = **** you money

Columbia Heights/Shaw/U Street/Petworth/Atlas District = I'm not rich, but my parents are (bc of all the recent grads that move to those areas whose parents probably pay their rent)

Dupont/west end/Logan circle/cap hill = old rich

Trying to figure out the others...
