Rents killing Restaurants in NYC.

I hope I get to try Katz Deli soon.

I love pastrami and heard NY Pastrami is amazing.

i got a hotdog there this past week for $3.90

your not missing anything

Bro 1 hot dog for $3.90?

Da ****

Hot dogs are expensive everywhere now man

Remember the days no matter the place the most you were paying was $1 even for the jumbo ones or 1.50'pop and hot dog and sometimes chips for that price

Now the least you're paying is 2.50 for a small *** hot dog

If only Costcos and Ikeas were everywhere. Their food courts will have you feel like you're having a feast for a few bucks.

I read that this is happening to a lot of businesses in NYC. Super expensive neighborhoods filled with vacant storefronts. "High rent blight".

Surprising how quick the airbnb thing got shut down but this had to have been building up for years. Where's da political intervention? [emoji]129300[/emoji]

Yeah i was just in NYC made a list of top spots to hit up and none of those sports were memorable at all besides that chicken strip spot called sticky fingers or something.

LA is a much better foodie city.

Did you go to pies n thighs?

"Some of those “things” include rising food prices, higher property taxes, greater insurance costs and an increased number of Americans with Disabilities act claims."

Can someone elaborate? Do they not have ramps for people in wheelchairs?

No handicap parking? The parking can't be the establishment's fault if they're smack  dab in the middle of the city.
Check out this article, it explains the trend. But in short, lawyers are finding small businesses that are in older buildings that aren't up to code for disabled persons, and then suing them.

Yea I seen a small *** store front on 130 something and Lenox and the sign said rent was $6,000 a month for it, that **** was wild :smh:

Sticky fingers sucks

Nah the chicken has no taste there, dipping sauce gives it all the flavor :smh:

good time for trappers to get in and stash their "work" at their "consignment" shops... 6,000 a month to hold 100 bricks in the basement aint bad

Greedy NYC Landlords.:smh: Theyd rather an old tenant vacate and wait months, possibly a year or 2 to finally find a tenant who'll pay the asking rent.

Notice how in that article, most of the restaurants were located in Manhattan?

These spots making smaller menus makes sense. But thats also going to shorten your clientele.

If rent is going up, employees wages are going up, all items for sale on that menu are also going up. This is why I hardly go out to eat. Everythings too much these days.

Was going to get into a restaurant with a friend and his business partner couple yrs ago when I had a good chunk in savings. Never pulled the trigger. Rent then was 17k in lower east side. They ended up going to Astoria and had to close within 2 yrs. it's a very stressful and ruthless industry. NYC makes it so hard for people to truly progress for the poor and the middle class.

Owning a successful business in NYC doesn't mean you are ballin. Far from it in many cases and makes being a corporate drone not such a bad idea.

Your opinion but I highly disagree. What are the hotspots cause there is new restaurant(S) opening weekly here? And the word foodie makes me cringe.
