JK Rowling Just Revealed Who Dumbledore Is in Love With

"I always thought of Dumbledore as gay . . . Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was. To an extent, do we say it excused Dumbledore a little more because falling in love can blind us to an extent? But, he met someone as brilliant as he was, and rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him. Yeah, that's how I always saw Dumbledore."

Him being gay isn't a new discovery. She said it years ago around the time book 7 dropped.

 @ finding out just now Dumbledore is gay
you just watch the films and/or read the books?

It was definitely more implied in the source materials, I've always seen their relationship more like a bromance a la Magneto/Prof X.

Grindlewald mightve seen it as a Bromance, but ya boy Dumbledore wanted it to be more.

Jude Law to Play Young Dumbledore in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel

Jude Law has been tapped to play young Dumbledore in the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sequel.

David Yates is returning to direct and Eddie Redmayne will be back to star alongside Johnny Depp, who will play the villain Grindelwald.

Albus Dumbledore is one of the most iconic characters in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world. Richard Harris made the role famous in the first two “Harry Potter” pics. Michael Gambon later took over the part after Harris’ death in 2002.

The two-time Academy Award nominee will portray Dumbledore long before the wizard became the headmaster at Hogwarts and Potter’s mentor. Set decades before the original “Harry Potter” films and books, Dumbledore is still serving as the wizarding school’s transfiguration professor in “Fantastic Beasts 2.”

The studio had been considering every major British actor in the biz — from Christian Bale to Benedict Cumberbatch to Mark Strong to Harris’ son, “Mad Men” alum and “The Crown” actor Jared Harris — for the role.

Rowling, who made her screenwriting debut on “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” has also written the script for the second installment, which is set in an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt Scamander and company have to decide on their allegiances.

“Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him,” Yates said. “I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

Toby Emmerich, president and chief content officer of Warner Bros. Pictures, echoed his sentiment.

“As fans ourselves, we are thrilled to have Jude Law joining the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ cast, playing a character so universally adored,” Emmerich added. “Jude has been a member of the Warner Bros. family for years and we’re excited to embark on this new adventure with him.”

Law will next be seen in “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” and currently stars in the HBO series “The Young Pope.”

The first movie in the planned five-part “Fantastic Beasts” series grossed more than $813 million at the box office.

The sequel, which begins production this summer, also reunites producers Rowling, David Heyman, Steve Kloves, and Lionel Wigram. Neil Blair, Rick Senat, and Danny Cohen are serving as executive producers.

“Fantastic Beasts 2” hits theaters on Nov. 16, 2018.

FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 Starts Production; New Casting Additions And Revealing Synopsis Unveiled

Warner Bros. has announced today that principal photography has begun on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel, the second instalment in a series of films set to run for five chapters.

It's been confirmed that Eddie Redmayne will return as wizarding worldmagizoologist Newt Scamander; alongside Katherine Waterston as Auror Tina Goldstein; Alison Sudol as her sister, Queenie Goldstein; and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, the only No-Maj in the foursome. Johnny Depp is playing the villainous Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald, while Jude Law has been cast as Albus Dumbledore.

Ezra Miller's Credence is making a mysterious return, while Zoë Kravitz plays Leta Lestrange, who was glimpsed in a photo as a woman from Newt’s past; Callum Turner is the famed Theseus Scamander, a war hero and Auror, who also happens to be Newt’s older brother; and Claudia Kim plays a young woman we first meet as a featured attraction at a wizarding circus. The ensemble cast also includes William Nadylam as a wizard named Yusuf Kama; Ingvar Sigurdsson as a bounty hunter named Grimmson; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Skender, who runs the wizarding circus; and Kevin Guthrie as Abernathy, whom we met as Tina and Queenie’s boss at MACUSA (Magical Congress of the USA).

A brand new official synopsis has also been released teasing what's to come in Fantastic Beasts 2:

J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplay for the film, which opens in 1927, a few months after Newt helped to unveil and capture the infamous Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause—elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander. The adventure reunites Newt with Tina, Queenie and Jacob, but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world. The film expands the wizarding world, moving from New York to London and on to Paris. There are also some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of the books and film series.

Next Fantastic Beasts film reveals new characters – including Nicolas Flamel

New characters and cast members have been announced for the new Fantastic Beasts story, and we suspect you may recognise a few of the names.
Nicolas Flamel, a character originally mentioned in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will appear in the new Fantastic Beasts film. Flamel, who is known in the wizarding world as an alchemist who discovered the Elixir of Life (based on the real-life alchemist of the same name), will be played by actor Brontis Jodorowsky. Flamel joins a big list of new characters confirmed to feature in the film.

So far, only a few names have been revealed, but some surnames will be familiar to Harry Potter fans. Joining the cast will be Wolf Roth as a character called Spielman; Call the Midwife star Victoria Yeates as Bunty; Derek Riddell as Torquil Travers; Poppy Corby-Tuech as Rosier; and Cornell S John as Arnold Guzman. The names ‘Travers’ and ‘Rosier’ stand out in particular; these last names turn up in the Harry Potter series and belong to two Death Eaters who served Lord Voldemort.

Actor and comedian Jessica Williams, best known for her work on The Daily Show, and Fiona Glascott have also been cast in the film, but their roles haven’t been revealed.

The new names will be joining the central cast: Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski. Carmen Ejogo, who portrayed the no-nonsense President of MACUSA Seraphina Picquery in the first film, has now been confirmed to be returning too. And they certainly won’t be alone. Earlier this year, Pottermore confirmed that Jude Law would be joining the cast as Albus Dumbledore, who is set to ‘team up’ with Newt in order to take down Dark wizard Grindelwald.

Newt will also be joined by two characters connected to his past in the new film: his brother Theseus, played by Callum Turner; and Zoë Kravitz, who returns as Leta Lestrange, a mysterious figure from an old relationship who only appeared in a photograph in the first film.

Here’s the official new plot description, which along with the character descriptions further below contain several nuggets that haven’t been confirmed before — such as officially announcing the return of Ezra Miller as Credence: “At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.”

And now the character descriptions: “Jude Law plays a young ALBUS DUMBLEDORE, taking on the mantle of one of J.K. Rowling’s most beloved characters; Ezra Miller makes a return as the enigmatic CREDENCE, whose fate was unknown at the end of the first film; Claudia Kim appears as a Maledictus, the carrier of a blood curse that destines her ultimately to transform into a beast; Zoe Kravitz plays LETA LESTRANGE, who had once been close to Newt Scamander but is now engaged to his brother; Callum Turner joins the cast as Newt’s older brother, THESEUS SCAMANDER, a celebrated war hero and the Head of the Auror Office at the British Ministry of Magic; Katherine Waterston returns as TINA GOLDSTEIN, who has been reinstated as an Auror for MACUSA; Eddie Redmayne stars again as wizarding world Magizoologist NEWT SCAMANDER, who has now gained fame in the wizarding world as the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; Dan Fogler reprises the role of the only No-Maj in the group, JACOB KOWALSKI; Alison Sudol reprises the part of Tina’s free-spirited sister, QUEENIE GOLDSTEIN, a Legilimens who can read minds; and Johnny Depp returns as the powerful Dark wizard GELLERT GRINDELWALD.”
