HARRY POTTER Film/TV Series Thread- RIP Michael Gambon / Dumbledore

Depp as Grindewald? Some sources are saying he might make a cameo in the first film.

Johnny Depp To Co-Star In J.K. Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel At Warner Bros

Johnny Depp is joining the cast of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, playing a co-starring role in the sequel which David Yates will direct early next year with Eddie Redmayne again in the lead role of Newt Scamander. I’ve confirmed this, but no one is saying exactly what role that Depp will play. But I believe that if you look carefully, you might spot him in a tiny turn in the first installment of the J.K. Rowling-created Harry Potter spinoff, which Warner Bros opens November 18. We’ll just have to wait and see how Depp complements the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards, 70 years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.

CONFIRMED: Johnny Depp Will Play Grindelwald

During a recent interview with Harry Potter fansite The Leakey Cauldron, director David Yates confirmed the report himself and also explained their process behind casting the über-talented, 3x Academy Award-nominated actor. Read his comments below:

“The whole principal of casting the movie was go with the best actor. Go for the most inspired, interesting, right fit for that character. And as we approached Grindelwald we thought, ‘who’s going to take this in an interesting direction?’ In this business, it’s a weird old business. You’re brilliant one week, people are saying odd things the next, you go up and down. But no one takes away your pure talent.

Johnny Depp is a real artist. He’s created several characters who have really resonated in our popular culture. He’s a really brilliant, brilliant actor. We were excited about seeing what he would do with this guy, the character. He’s fearless; he’s imaginative; he’s ambitious. We thought he would do something fun and special. So we went for him, purely on that selfish basis. We don’t care if he’s famous or not famous. We just know he’s interesting.”

I cant wait to see this. Depp about to kill that Grindelwald role in the sequel.

Huge HP fan but can't get hyped for this for some reason...Still will see it opening weekend though.

Hype is definitely not as big and big part of that is that this isn't originally based on a book but a textbook inside a book (if that makes sense  )

I believe it is only expected to make like $75m in the first weekend, which isn't bad at all but I think that is the lowest the franchise will debut in.

Really curious who they are going to cast as young Dumbledore, I think that story is going to be the most interesting part of the series.

I also want to know how powerful Dumbledore really is, Grindelwald is suppose to be the second most powerful dark wizard too (behind Voldemort) so I am looking forward to some battles.

Funny when franchises already plan out how many movies they want to have. didn't work out for that divergent garbage and people who wanted to make a ghostbusters sequel.

This movie looks good though and will check it out. Might like their magic more than Doctor Strange's magic.

They definitely kept Dumbledore's power on the DL in the HP movies.

Dude is feared by Voldemort and respected by the rest of the wizard world.

They just need to cast Del Toro as young Dumbledore -- Fear & Loathing reunion.

So this film is another story within the Rowling Wizard world right? Nothing related to Harry's storyline?

I think if the movie is good it'll be easy for the 5 movies to develop a following. There's no hype because it's not based on an existing book and ppl don't know if the story is going to be good. It's out this week?

I believe the sequel goes back to England and it might involve Hogwarts in some way.

So the main character I'm this one is the author of the book used in Hogwarts?

do i have to watch the harry potter movies to watch this?

i've only seen the first one

I don't think so, there might be references to the other movies but I doubt it's going to be a big part of the plot.

This does precedes the Harry Potter books/movies so it'll probably be like the Hobbit.

If this thread is about instrumentals y'all need to check out my soundcloud page....
