HARRY POTTER Film/TV Series Thread- RIP Michael Gambon / Dumbledore

Movie was good. I'm interested in this. The movie spent too much time on setting up th universe than creating good moments /  a good story. The twist at the end, revealing Depp really has me interested tho. I knew he was playing Grindelwald but did not expect to see him in this film.

Lol I'm not worried about the 65 mil opening. Fantastic Beasts won't make amazing numbers. But its sequel will. Guaranteed.

Don't know if it will be the sequel but whichever movie they build to Dumbledore vs. Grindlewald will do numbers.

Anyways imma try to catch up with early matinee of this tomorrow

And rfx45 rfx45 you're right, new estimates lookin closer to 70mill range

So it looks like they're going to keep the cast together for the sequel. I really like that. The core 4 is good together.

Lol Voldemort lost to a 17 yr old boy in a one on one duel though
  true but at least harry was the chosen one, and he had to go through great loss first. I'm just saying, Voldemort had people afraid to say his name when they thought he was dead!!!!

on another not how come Harry did not become a obscurus?

Harry I think was always accidentally doing his magic, he just didn't know it. Lol.

I want to read the first chapters of Harry Potter 1 again.

If Dumbledore's sister was indeed an obscurus it was a ******* thing of him to risk repeating the same thing with Harry.

OMG the obscurus survived :wow:

The next movie will take place in spring/summer of Paris in 1928

I'm happy we're going to get everybody back

Lol some of your references I don't get, RFX. I must not have seen all the movies you are referencing.

For example, mrfriendzone

I love when they have the marathons on

Well, I loved it. It looked fantastic and it did a lot of things better than HP - it assumed you knew things rather than patronisingly explaining them - one of the worst parts in the HP movies is Harry saying "muggles" so someone can explain what they are, and that happened way too often.

This was a more serious story and it worked. Redmayne was fantastic too.

Was that BatFleck in the movie?

I enjoyed it.

Long though

My favorite beast was the one that could see into the future.

saw it
loved it
Was skeptical how it would play as adults were the main characters, but it was great. The sequence in the briefcase was Amazing.
Eddie is Newt, the thing I love about the casting in these movies is that they are on point. Can't imagine anyone else playing that role. I'll have to trust Rowling on the casting of Grendawal though, hoping the sequel adds legs to that casting

all in all awesome extension to the Potterverse

Movie was great to me

I thought it was better than a couple of the HP movies actually

Idc I'm glad we are getting 4 more movies from the HP universe

glad to see a lot of people liking it considering majority of the characters are new

It's also already at $607m worldwide and it seems to be holding well, it took second place this weekend for another $18m and they can probably retain that til Rogue One comes out?

I think Rogue 1 comes out this week. It needs to hurry up and make 50-100 more real quick cuz after Rogue 1 arrives they are done

Rogue1 comes out next week (12/16) so they have another weekend.

But even with Rogue1, after that it is Moana v FB for third place and I can see them making ~$8m-$10m even against R1 which isn't bad considering.

Lol if they still have one more weekend to do work, then maybe they can get to 700 by the time rogue 1 hits.

700 for a movie that is a non sequel is pretty solid.
