2017 YANKEES OFFSEASON THREAD Vol. Gary El Jefe

Chap is a real one for coming back to NY, despite the Marlins $ being worth way more due to sales tax and proximity to Cuba.

I know Cash said we're done with any big moves.

But I think we should still look at

SP:
Jason Hammels (2 year deal, couple million dollar buyout for year 2 to allow us to skate on paying a larger year 1 salary technically)
Jose Quintaña (trade)
Sonny Gray (trade)

RP:
Greg Holland (had TJ Surgery and velo was down in last month's showcase. But 1 year / $6-7 mil is enough to give him a chance to show out for next year and add another bullpen arm)

LF
J.D. Martinez (trade)
Melky Cabrera (trade)

-Jansen got 5 year / $80mil... The Marlins really played the spoiler in the FA market for closers... Yankees were trying to get Chapman for 5 year / $70mil, but Marlins bumped up the salary with their expensive push

-Ruben Tejada got a Minor League Deal (specifically a spring invite), if he performs, he's likely our Utility Infielder off the bench

-We have interest in Sergio Romo to add to the bullpen

If we can hang on to

-Sanchez
-Bird
-Didi
-Gleyber
-Fraizer
-Severino
-Betances

I'm generally good with the price.

But realistically I'd offer them Mateo, Rutherford, Kaprielian, Wilkerman Garcia, Billy McKinny, Robbie Refsnyder & Ian Clarkin

While Yankees have contacted White Sox about Quintana, chances for a deal are slim. Sox want a ton and Yankee plan is keep best prospects.

Wouldnt mind seeing Quintana with the Yankees but it probably wont happen because Kenny Williams likes to try and commit hway robbery with every deal.

NT brethren, we must try and do a summit this year at the stadium and brews beforehand at Billy's or Dugout?

Billy's is :pimp: that place gets wild pre and post-game, especially after a win.

Still would chase it, and try to make the deal.

Jorge Mateo, Blake Rutheford, James Kaprielian, Ian Clarkin, Drew Finley

Trade Brett Gardner for 2 average prospects, that would go to Chicago..

That's 3 of our top 9. 5 of top 20. + 2 more prospects.... That's a great haul, and while there's no Yoan Moncada there, it's solid value when you compare who Sale is versus who Quintana is.

Sources add: #WhiteSox firm on Quintana’s value; also could move him at deadline. NYY seem less willing than others to move top prospects.

Fine by me. I'm glad Cash is staying just as firm with not wanting to deal out the kids. Wait it out til the deadline and see if it's worth revisiting.
