Selling and Shipping My Sneaker Collection from Craigslist to Ebay. (I don't want to get scammed)

I've been out of the sneaker game for a long time for various reasons. I've been trying to sell everything on Craigslist for a bit now. Mostly old retro Jordan's 00-06

But, I got a good offer on ebay as I listed the shoes for local pick up. I was planning on shipping them, but Craigslist has been full of flakes lately.

I just don't want to get screwed. Any advice?

And what's the best way to ship that many shoes. I bought the largest boxes home depot had and was able to fit 10 each in them.

Thank you.

Send all the right foot shoes first.

Wen money is confirmed in the bank

Send the left shoes.

Wutaru gonna do with a bunch of left shoes....wat is he gonna do with a bunch of right shoes.

The deal has to be done.

I appreciate the help guys. I worked out an arrangement and received a gift payment via PayPal.

I feel alot better about the transaction. Not quite as good as cash. But, at least I don't have to worry about a charge back

You are actually now much more susceptible to a chargeback since you are no longer eligible for PayPal's seller protection.

Good luck, though. Hope it works out for you.

How? A gift payment can't get a charge back via PayPal as far as I know. I called PayPal to confirm.

You basically waive your right to charge back by sending a friend, and family aka gift payment.

If I'm wrong. Please correct me.

Not out of the woods yet. They might not be able to file a chargeback through PayPal but they can still do so with their cc company and it will overrule PayPal. At that point PayPal will pass the L over to you. How many pairs are you shipping ? Sounds like a lot

20 pairs. Damn. Now I'm shook. I was going to ship tommorrow because the payment cleared. 10 pairs in each box.

The buyer can do one of two things:

1. Claim that their account was comproised during the transaction. If paypal allows the chargeback (they usually do,) you the transaction will be reversed for the buyer, and you will have absolutely zero recourse.

2. File a chargeback with their credit card company. The credit card companies will side with the customer 90% of the time. If that happens, PayPal takes the L, and then passes the L onto you.

The only way to protect yourself as a seller is to insist on invoice, and then document which shoes you're shipping, where you're shipping to, and how you're shipping them. Even then you're still at risk, but you have some recourse in the matter.

That, or face to face meeting with the racket on you :nerd:

Wow. So I should issue a refund and cancel the deal? Damn. Is there no safe way to get payment for a seller outside of cash?

At the end of the day if someone wants to scam you on an online transaction there really isn't anything you can do. There is always an aspect of risk that you have to take as a seller

That's because you can't file a chargeback with PayPal. The only thing you can do through PayPal is open a dispute and escalate it to a claim.

If you haven't shipped the shoes off yet, I would cancel the transaction and ask the buyer to purchase the shoes via invoice. If he declines, find a new buyer.

Yea, this is definitely a scam. It makes absolutely no sense, as a buyer, to purchase that many pairs of shoes with no protection.

I received payment from CRS Marketing LLC ship to address is for Brianna Nicole. I googled her and that's Rob Dyrdek girlfriend. Probably just a coincidence. As this buyer is in Utah.

These scenarios are just worst case. Its totally possible that the deal will go through with no problem, and honestly, a buyer sending their payment as a gift is somewhat risky for them as well. There's a chance they'll file a chargeback, but if you've communicated with them and they seem trustworthy, it could be fine.

I'm just a paranoid person to begin with. I found the address I'm shipping to is a ups suite.

I was feeling fine before I posted this thread.

But, its good to know. I'm just on the fence now.

What smart buyer would honestly give up paypal protection and gift money to you? They have nothing to gain from that scenario because you have to pay the fees. I personally have to buy something from someone several times to know they're legit or I have to know them in order to send the money as a gift. I never sold shoes online but I buy a lot of things online and it sounds like a scam. Do like the posters above said and invoice or send the right shoes first (this still has me dying).
