^^^^ Call'a Castro an evil man.....

Loves Ronald Reagan.

laugh.gif
Ronald Reagan is a virgin church boy compared to Castro..

da false equivalents here is astounding.

laugh.gif
mean.gif
The only difference is that Reagan had more resources at his disposal, his reign tyranny was more complex.

Reagan probably destroy more lives that Castro, just indirectly.
naw, Reagan never openly oppressed dissent da way Castro had and Cuba continually does.

he may be diametrically opposite of everything u stand for ideological wise, but he represents honest to goodness freedom to folks who've tasted repressive regimes.

some of his most ardent supporters are Russians who escaped da Soviet Union and Cubans.

yo u gotta escape da island to have freedom of speech..thats straight nuts.
-How many right wing tyrants did Reagan help during his tenure, and how many people did those fools kill? Huh?

-How many AIDS suffers did he ignore?

-How black bodies were lost in his ramping up with his the drug war.

-It was Reagan that started the tough on crime nonsense.

-You voted for Trump because your hate our trade deals. The policy proposals that lead to NAFTA were brought to the national stage by Reagan. By your logic, I guess he needs to take some blame for Appalachia. Your mans.....

-He veto an anti Apartheid Bill

-Supported the exploitation of Mexican farmer workers

-He served as a snitch for the FBI to swear accused communist sympathizers in Hollywood. That blacklist ruined people's careers

-This fool illegal sold arms to Iran to fund lebels in central American

-Funded the Afghan Mujahideen

-Appointed Supreme Court justices that opposed civil rights and social justice for minorities

-Defunded mental institutions that lead to a spike in the homeless population

-And kicked off a massive finesse job of Social Security to cover his already massive deficits. Social Secuirty will probably have to be cut in the future because of this.

-This is the man that burst on the national stage politically by giving a speech in support of Barry Goldwater, a loon that opposed the Civil Rights Act.

-He used dog whistle against black people, opposed Affirmative Action until corporations liked it, and was against MLK day until it moderate whites were even like "WTF man"

-There were tons of people that wished they could escape Reagan's America. He was a ******* scumbag
and NONE OF THIS compares to Fidel Casro...

and da fact that you even mentioned...
How many AIDS suffers did he ignore?

da war on drugs, AIDS, and NAFTA were all infant ideas or brand new events, that either didn't pan out (monday morning quarterbacking it now with your ideology) or out of his hands.

you really gonna attempt to pinn da 80's HIV epidemic when no one knew what was going? gimme a break.

everything else you mentioned is your difference in politics to Reagan, something thats not a crime against humanity and is something we're

allowed to have in da US...amazing i know.

except here in America we got da right to voice our opinions and vote for or against a govemment....

Nope. Not today.

I'll let Rusty get that.

Nah famb, I'm good. I'll just shade this piece of **** Reagan and be out.

Ninja already showed his *** in another discussion the the politics thread. My doctor recommended daily intake of Dominicano ignorance has been filled.

Posting this because it made me lol, not trying to make any statement for or against either side of this whole "I'm smarter than you about Castro" back and forth that's going on
laugh.gif
There's not even an "I'm smarter than you" thing going on. We all seem to be acknowledging the same truths except for Lucky "I've been told what he's done but I still don't know what he's done but let me list a thing he did that I like and feign ignorance on everything else" Luchiano. It's just some of us care and some of us don't. And it be like that sometimes. Apathy towards things that don't affect you is easy. I've done it. At least it's nice that we can decide whether or not we like Castro and can discuss his legacy frankly.

Even that's not comforting. Trump might only have 4 years on the clock but he and his people could do things in that time to adversely affect people around the world for years after he's gone. America really **** the bed this time

I just came back from Varadero,Cuba on vacation. I was there Friday in downtown Varadero at a restaurant/bar when the music completely stopped and word went around Fidel died. The whole entertainment on the street just stopped. People were in disbelief, shock, somber mood.

Some were complaining they will starve in the next couple of days because if you're in the entertainment business, no music, disco or bars allowed in the 9 days of mourning. Even on our resort, no entertainment allowed until he is laid to rest.

Cuba is a fascinating and beautiful country. The friendliest and most loving people. Despite them being poor, they are so full of life and festive and happy people.

As for Fidel, he is a polarizing figure and he has done a lot of bad things but also the good he's done cannot be denied. His people have first class education and healthcare, something the United States does not even provide its citizens.

Maybe Castro wouldn't have gotten as extreme if the U.S. accepted his revolution and he would have implemented democracy with their help as he had originally asked. So he had to ally with the U.S.S.R. Who knows what Cuba could have been without the U.S. embargo and the U.S.S.R. which fell in the 1990s, crippling the Cuban economy. I had met people who have degrees in biology or mechanical engineering and they work as cab drivers or at bars in the resorts. Very literate and educated people, more than Americans on average. Despite all that, Cuba and Castro's regime still survived.

You cannot deny the man's influence on world history and politics and his tenacity to defy U.S. imperialism. Third world countries love him. He may be a tyrant, but they see the U.S. as the bigger enemy and tyrant. He championed the cause of the poor and those oppressed by U.S. foreign policy.

So as someone who spoke to the Cubans and was there as it happened..no no one is celebrating. They are sad and confused, wondering what will happen next.

There are already changes there. There is a bit of access to the internet. Small businesses and private owners here and there.

I saw the United States embassy in Havana which has been erected for 3 months now. It was quite perplexing.

I asked why now did the Cubans normalize relations with the Americans? I was told it is because the Cubans wanted it and the want the embargo lifted.

They actually don't want the Americans coming in. They think it might get back to being corrupt like it was under Batista with guns and drugs every where and become like Mexico. Cuba has low crime. No rampant drugs on the streets. As a tourist, extremely safe. I felt like there was discipline and complete order.

One guy told me how they love Obama and he was the best thing Americans had and for Cubans too. They watched the American elections through their illegal cables and were heartbroken Trump won since he threatened to keep the embargo. To think even that they got that affected by US politics. They despise Trump and hate him.

I was so happy to visit Cuba as it is now to see the beauty of the country and its beautiful people. Very unique and truly mesmerizing. Full of life, colors, and it is like going through a time warp. I miss it already. If you have the chance, please go. No where else like it.

Whatever the outcome, I wish all the best to the Cuban people and a prosperous future. They deserve it.

bu bu the Cubans in Miami are dancing in the streets in Trump costumes lol

Also another thing to add, some of the Cubans celebrating in Miami were from generations ago who lost property or were expelled for being Batista loyalists when Castro took power. Not cool that they lost property but Batista was no saint either.

So no not all Cubans hate Castro. I felt like he was loved by many in Cuba and there was more animosity towards the United States foreign policy and what it had done to Cuba.

What perplexes me is the U.S. was all for Batista who was also a brutal dictator and who took down a democracy in Cuba through a coup. But of course, he allowed the United States to plunder and exploit Cuba and its people and have drugs and crime and mafia everywhere. Batista was a thug with no sympathy for the poor. That is why he was in power.

So really..the U.S. government can shove it about Castro. They don't care if you're a dictator as long as you are their puppet.

Did anyone say that Castro was universally hated in Cuba? Or that he never did anything good?

The issue is that some folks want to act like the good things he did erase the bad things he did, not the other way around

Yes I read early in the thread that Cubans in Miami and in Cuba are celebrating.

I had people ask me while in Cuba hey are Cubans cheering and celebrating because of CNN showing the celebrations in Miami making them think all Cubans in Cuba or majority feel this way too.

Many of our presidents have been oppressing minority groups for centuries, even the one's that are generally liked.   America is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, we just have better PR.

The United States just covers it with "democracy." Please, this is a country running on institutionalized racism and was built on slavery and it kills thousands of people with its foreign policy. Look no further than what is happening in North Dakota right now.

Famb, people have acknowledge America has done dirt, that is kinda besides the point though. That doesn't absolve Castro of his oppressive actions.

People can condemn both.

We. All. Understand. This.

Why can't we acknowledge that other countries have done bad things without the constant "what about Anerica?" stuff?

Of course Cubans in Cuba aren't celebrating Castro's death. They're trapped there. It'd be dumb to risk death over that. Makes perfect sense they're scared and confused.

Its easy to provide health care and education when it's possible your ppl may starve and are living in poverty. Low crime you say? Ain't nobody to rob. No weapons? Guns are useless when you'd rather want food.

Y'all dudes (and women) have to recognize both sides of things if honest discussion is to be had.

Nah that clown **** willful ignorance already been called out b.

Got nothing to do with wanting you to bash Castro.

Its just facts

You want to talk about what you know. When you repeatedly display that you do not know much.

Its like talking to somebody about the Cold War but the only part you know about is the communist side and then when ppl tell you about **** you don't know your reply is oh that's capitalist problems, that's western countries beef. I don't know anything about that

Because that would be hypocritical. Fidel Castro hurt some people but there are people who liked him for other reasons. That's all we're saying.

How is that hypocritical? To acknowledge both countries did dirt, and some people like Castro, but still say he was a oppressive piece of ****.

I don't see it.

Exactly. Dudes in here with the SELECTIVE outrage. If you gonna be mad or upset with Castro, be the same way towards President-Elect Trump for his housing discrimination tactics and more so against black people. Folks have no problem when bad people do bad things to black people (Ronald Reagan and his supporters) but have a problem if and only if it happens in their community. Keep it straight across the board.
How the hell is this the same as throwing people in prison just because they opposed you and executing them? Y'all moving the goalposts to fit your narrative.

Cubans who had their property taken aren't the only ones celebrating this man's death. Why does this have to keep being reiterated?
