Whole Foods tries to shed ‘Whole Paycheck’ image

I always though Aldi was just an international shop for the Africans. I've only gone in there to buy cashews. The Safeway by me is nice though. Wegman is A-1 for the burger bar alone. I've been to some upscale H-E-Bs before. Now those are where you get quality for low prices.

  This got me for some reason

Looks like I'll continue to shop at Safeway and Costco.

Harris Teeter is convenient...But the prices are sometimes way overpriced.

at my old job, we use to put up banners/signs/displays at whole foods
the housewives and soccer moms

Yessir.

Another thing that's probably killing WF to some extent...and not saying that this customer is in their target demographic, but stores like Target/Wal-Mart make it so you can get just about everything in one stop.

As far as Trader Joe's...they're legit for snacks, cheap wine, and a good beer selection. Other than that, not much else.

Their veggies/fruits always turn too quickly. Not sure why.

Whole Foods is wild expensive. It makes no sense even more if you are close to a farmers market.

The food buffet options is dope though - decent indian food, salad, chinese and dope sandwich & pizza options. 420 at Whole foods is :pimp:, if that is your thing . The bigger stores show full ESPN games on different screens, have actual Sushi spot inside it, sick beer selection to buy and one to sample / drink at inside. And the obvious hipster esque tea's, kombucha for $8, live music and free bbq.

Yeah, WF is becoming more and more like a food court.

I feel like the people that shop for groceries at my WF are the minority. Everybody is on the other side getting their coffee & pastry, burritos, pizza, subs, sushi, salad, hot foods.

Was in there yesterday morning to get donuts and the guy behind me had a plate of eggs, potatoes, and the most beautiful strips of bacon I've ever seen. I was like, that's wassup.

I have family out in the PNW and they all swear by Fred Meyer - they claim it literally has everything under one roof.  I have been a few times, it was ok, the bar was cool.  But even wegmans has a bar now

I don't get a snooty vibe from the WH by me. If anything its one of the few places I shop where the employees seem genuinely happy to be there.

Read this article last night. I found it to be interesting. I think it's a combination of WF's arrogance and the consumer, who is becoming a smarter shopper that can find the same (or comparable) items elsewhere. Personally, I used to rely on WF for their meats/veggies...but I'll happily do most of my shopping at Wegman's now. I can get my organics, amongst other things, at a fraction of the cost that I was paying at WF.

All in all, it's going to be interesting to see what WF does going forward...
