What Was Your First Real Job

My first first was work alongside a carpenter .

I was paid under the table.

My first official job was a dishwasher at schnucks headquarters through a temp agency .

It was cool .worked with a other cat that actually lived around the way. Worked around some pro chefs so after we did what we had to the chefs let us try some of the food they were cooking/prepped

Last day I was there they had a retirement party . They spent all day making a 5 star spread just to get pissed because no one was really eating the food (bunch of old cats) so they brought it back in . So any food that wasn't touched had to be thrown away but before that happened the owner of shnucks came in and shook everyone's hand and we got to split it amongst ourselves .

I was eating GREAT for about 3 days.

Good times.

Hardest I've ever worked was when I worked at an aluminum foundry that had a contract with Toyota and some other big companies. Made great money ,but I was a young dumbass and quit that job cuz I wasn't feeling it that day.

First job was at Hot Dog on a Stick. Paid good, free food. I didn't mind wearing those shorts for the hunnies wanting lemonade.

I then went to JC Penney and worked in their suit department. Flourished because they had commision...That fed to my fad in buying millions of shoes

Should have saved some of that money

I unloaded the merchandise trucks at Kohls.

One day a week. 5AM-10AM shift. 5 hours a week.

Minimum wage, $8 / hr.

I asked for more hours and to work register, but all those jobs went to the girls in the store cause they could sell the Kohls cards more easily.

I was with a temp agency working as a server for company christmas parties being held at multiple Marriotts making 7.50 an hour. Wasn't bad at 15yo.

worked in the MIS department for the public school system here.

got paid once a month which sucked since it was just a summer job so i only had like 2 paychecks.

First actual job... i worked at CSC(dudes in the yellow jacket at sporting events) as
security $7.50hr
1st "real" job tho? Housekeeper for a hospital. Made $14.70 hr

Almost doubled up my first job in pay :smokin

Nope we're covered up very well.
Are you trying to get into the field?

Yeah pretty much my regret is not going for something I could've made more money from. That's it.
I thought obgyn make good $$?

Landed an LAX security gig. Pay is about 16 an hour, which is the highest hourly rate I've had thus far in my young life. It's not a career, but it's a step in the right corner for gaining that experience and climbing up. This is my first decent paying job.

What were ya'll first big or decent paying job?

My first job was in 2002 as a senior in high school. I worked for a mortgage company cold calling people from 5-10pm week days to get them to re finance their homes. It brought enough money for Jordans and gear. Back then retros were $130 or so. I can't even fathom keeping up with today's prices in high school.

I made min wage and commission. I had to take buses to get there and it sucked vecause LA wasn't built around public transportation. A 15 min drive was an hour easily on buses.

Quit after high school ended. Work at Circuit City in college for some fun money.

First corporate job fresh from undergrad was at a light manufacturing company at LAX making $48k a year. I thought that was good money at 23 years old.

The job taught me a lot, mostly how to get buy ins from folks who's been there longer than I've been alive.

Driving around the airport, it made me realize a lot of those guys are grossly underpaid. Stressful jobs to make flight times and stay within laws of airport police.

It's funny that as you climb the ladder, the less work you really do as you're no longer the front line visible to the customers.

It's kinda ***** up if you ask me. Especially when most of the higher ups only get there because they know somebody who know somebody. The people who get paid less are the one's doing the most labor
