Oakland fire in warehouse.

Unfortunate situation.

Saw some pics of the place before this incident. Simply gross. Electrical wires upon electrical wires upon mild and feces.

Respect to the families and deceased and the communities at large being affected by this.

This is so ****** up. The man that leased the place won't even own up to not bringing the building up to code and making the necessary repairs. What a scumbag

What an idiot for doing this interview. Get a lawyer. You're about to get charged for this tragedy.

Man seems like he was on psychologically shakey ground before the tragedy. Dude comes off as an egomaniac.

RIP to all the victims, I can't even handle trying to put myself in the shoes of their respective families. Truly tragic.

My homies home girl was in the fire

Read how some of the victims were found huddled together trying to protect one another. Sad.

Dog, those conditions are ridiculous :smh: How could you in your right mind consider renting spaces like that to people. But also in the same breath, people have to know when to avoid a bad situation, your commute might be longer but your living conditions would be better.

The laws need to be changed to make sure stuff like this doesn't continue to happen. I'm sure this isn't the only one in the area where this is going on.

There was 1 survivor that looked as if he had minor burns. Dude just left his friend who supposedly had a sprain ankle.

He just left him. Talking about it was too hot and the smoker was unbearable and I had to leave him. Couldn't carry him no longer.

Da ****? Smh put him on your back or at least try to drag him out. You just left him? smh

In a case like this, I would take my chances jumping out the window or running through the fire. I can't imagine dying a painful death like that. Sad

I saw that interview. I think he was one of his roommates too. The guy must've been big or these artists are just frail.

They said son was "larger". I mean I got a homeboy that's 6'6 250 and if he sprung his ankle and we're in a fire, either we both die or I got a chance to live.... I'm taking my chances

 easy to say when youre at a computer, and not in a burning building near death.

Iono fam ...I'm too loyal of a friend to leave someone. We dying together...

Then again, it depends what I'm thinking about...family,kid, future.

This is why I squat and Deadlift heavy almost everyday.

Yeah, people will pay whatever they have to pay so they're living in a city's hotspot.

When I was looking for a place in SF, I saw rooms that could only fit a bed or room that look like a cutout into a wall. Pretty ridiculous.

Luckily, I was able to rent out a room at my Uncle's place before ultimately moving out of the city and commuting to work.

The fact of the matter is that no one on this board was there when this happened.

The fallout from this is criticism, pointing fingers, and business as usual band-aid solutions coming from the City of Oakland administration after the fact. (Surprised?)

More people who live in or work under similar conditions are facing eviction now.

The newcomers look at us strange, don't say hello, and "bought" into the hype.
