Life Expectancy In U.S. Drops For First Time In Decades, Report Finds

What's with all these folks not wanting to live past 60-70? And the ones in the retirement thread talking about not saving anything for retirement. I'm disabled and I would hope I make it that far.

With all the possible medical and technological advancements, maybe our quality of life will drastically improve by then. I'd at least like to find out before I start making plans to not live past age X.

See, Mick Jagger is ******* LIVING b. He just had a baby boy with his 29 y/o girlfriend  :pimp:

The blatant xenophobia by some of the guys here is unprecedented. Never have I experienced such ignorant behavior towards foreigners just trying to give their opinion. I'm both shocked and appalled.

 go seek attention elsewhere

As for me, I'm fine living past 70, but not that much past it. Article says 76.3 is thelofe expectancy for men and that sounds appropriate to me

Mick Jagger rich, don't get it twisted. Also, at 70 you're not worrying about what others think or what's cool.

this^ I read an article not to long ago saying the opposite life expectancy was going to up in the near future. Because of all the technological advancements, exercise regimens, and discoveries.... Living past 70 should be a breeze in the near future.

Yea but none of you all are Mick or Lenny...
Stop looking at other peoples lives like its gonna be yours at 70+.

Who says you are gonna have the health or wealth of these guys????

Lets be honest, this is a deliberate and covert attempt by the man to control population growth. But I'm guessing we are all already acknowledging that fact.

I'm already exhausted all the time at 26. I'm going to be the most miserable, decrepit old man ever.

I hope you didn't miss the irony of posting this on NT, of all forums, where members have been throwing reason out of the window to get that "last pair of sneakers for a while, I swear" since 1999.

There is a reason brands spend billions in marketing and advertising to erode the public's willpower: it's because it works. Refusing to address the promotion of bad habits, the effects of poor urban planning, and leave it all to "willpower" (at the mercy of corporations' need that you consume) is irresponsible and will invariably lead to poor quality of life and poor health numbers.
I didnt miss that irony...it was just absolutely irrelevant and an excuse to hit me with a leftist lecture about why taking personal responsibility is a worse idea than more government intervention.

Poor urban planning?   How is that at all relevant here?

This is how you think....." lets not put a McDonald's there guys, it may be unfair to under privileged,  they may consume too much and it will be our fault, as we already know they cant help themselves"

You had to have typed this nonsense in a starbucks

And you are posting all your nonsense from Canada. Do you turn down that free, leftist universal healthcare?

one of the health conferences I attended this year reminded me of this thread. The speaker started out saying something like "I love making these speeches to the general public because every idiot in this room has an opinion on why there is an obesity epidemic, because their parents did this or 'I have no problem with weight because I do this' , 'willpower, lazy, etc.' if I was up here lecturing on quantum physics 99.9% of you wouldn't have a god damn thing to say."

I wish I still had the vid
