Back when R&B was dope, there was an actually message in the song. Not the trash you hear on the radio or being forced on you through social media.

Commercial "R&B" today is all the same club music with the same slang and same raunchiness. There's no love or passion in the music.

Don't care for 90% of r&b. One of the most stagnant genres there is. Glad the Weeknd and company shook **** up.

U gotta be kidding me

That's by far one of the dumbest post I've seen on here
Of the songs posted, six of them have the word "Love" in the title, and I've heard most of those songs, they're all about the same thing. R&B is the most one dimensional genre of music. How many songs about being in love with people do we really need fam?

Not a subject matter I particularly care for in my music to begin with, but quite frankly it just doesn't sound good.

antidope antidope can't WAIT to spout off his r&b hate .

R&B in the 90s & early 00s was MAD versatile.

You had new jack swing R&B
Hip hop soul
Neo soul
Party R&B/Dance
Slow Jams
Classic R&B
Anthemic R&B
Boy Band R&B
Girl Band R&B
Grown folks R&B
Etc

All of these performed EXTREMELY WELL in the mainstream.....and had their own sounds/styles.

All genres are one dimensional. Hip Hop is the same **** over and over. R&B is the same content over and over but you say it all differently but why even come into this thread if you hate R&B?

I disagree. R and B music is predominantly about being in love with women.

While on the subject though, Seal Kiss From a Rose.

Did you know that when it snows, my eyes become wider    it's so funny but lowkey fire.

We know how much of a conflict that is for you...
:lol:lol

Nah but seriously it's just too soft for my liking in most cases. I just prefer more hard elements in my music.

It's gonna sound super ignorant but that's my issue with rappers making songs about being in love with women. You're supposed to make "hard" music for lack of a better term, and it just feels like you're being a sucker if you're supposed to be hard and then talking about taking women on dates and laying down rose petals and all that other stuff.

It's boring subject matter.

"Hard" doesn't just mean music about moving bricks and murder. Like I said I couldn't think of a better term, but basically music that sounds to the tune of "baby I love you" is not music I wanna listen to. Just like I don't care to listen to politically charged rap.

Hope I was able to clear that up. It's why I keep putting "hard" in quotes.

There are exceptions to every rule. Drake falls under the exceptions. That can't keep being the counter argument that's leaned on.

Sounds like you like your rap one dimensional.

I mess with antidope antidope but, I can't co-sign anything this brotha' saying... R&B is arguably better than Hip-Hop. It's not that Anti is wrong about R&B's SUBJECT MATTER being one dimensional because, he's actually right. R&B is pretty much about love between men & women in some sort of fashion.

To say it's one of the worst genre's is flat out ridiculous because it unifies people of all races. I disagree with ya' Anti. R&B is one of the best genre's of music out there. It definitely has fallen off, though. My goodness. The 2010's R&B is so garbage. Half these cats, nah, most of these cats have no vocal range and can't hit different notes. The talent level has disappeared. :smh:

Also, the only person I really think that's bringing back 90's R&B is Ty Dolla $ign. He's our only hope to bring back real Rhythm & Blues...

I would disagree but we can just leave it at that. I really don't want to cause a problem in here.

That _ a weirdo man. I'm sorry. He hates R&B but loves the softest, corniest singer/rapper in music.

Why the hell would you even come in a thread about a genre of music you don't like? Always sounding like a sheltered geek.
